Student answer (Band 6.5)
The working days in a week should be cut short and the weekend should be extended for the workers. I agree with this change, because a longer weekend is beneficial for the workers' physical as well as mental health. Moreover, it can help to reduce the environmental pollution by decreasing the traffic.
In most of the countries, people usually work six days a week and get only one day off in a week. Companies and other organisations focus on their own benefits, compromising the health of their workers. The workload makes a person mentally and physically exhausted. For example, people who work on a laptop or computer, their screentime is highly increased which disturbs vision and leads to issues related to eyesight. So, a longer weekend can reduce the screentime to some extent. Moreover, there must be a longer weekend, so that people can spend more time with their family and friends, which can relax their mind. A person with fresh and healthy mind can perform more effeciently.
The heavy traffic on roads highly contibutes to air pollution as well as noise pollution. Vehicle emissions are a major source of pollution, adding some hazardous chemicals to our air. Similarly, the noise produced by the traffic has negative impacts on human health. To overcome this traffic a longer weekend can be helpful. If people stay home for two days a week it can significantly decrease the traffic which will eventually reduce environmental pollution. For example, in Lahore the government ordered to extend the weekend, to overcome the air pollution in the city and it played a significant role in controlling the smog.
In conclusion, its beneficial for companies to have a longer working week but it leads to a number of health and environmental problems. In order to get a healthy and sustainable environment there must be a longer weekend for the workers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction and remains consistent: you support a longer weekend for workers. You address the task with two relevant reasons—improved physical and mental health, and reduced pollution—and extend them with examples such as screen use and Lahore’s response to smog. This gives the argument meaningful support. However, some claims are broad, particularly that people in most countries work six days a week, and the screen-time point is not fully explained as a consequence of a shorter working week. The conclusion also briefly acknowledges benefits to companies without clarifying how these relate to your position. More precise claims and fuller explanation of how each reason follows from a shorter working week would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay is organised clearly into an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from workers’ health to environmental effects is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. Paragraphs generally maintain a clear focus. At times, however, the connections are somewhat mechanical or repetitive: “Moreover” introduces several points, while “So” and “To overcome this traffic” do not express the relationships as precisely as they could. The reference to “this traffic” is also slightly unclear. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make links between cause and effect explicit to make the flow more seamless.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “workload,” “physically exhausted,” “vehicle emissions,” “hazardous chemicals,” and “sustainable environment.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some topic-specific language helps make the argument relevant. However, several expressions are imprecise or awkward, such as “working days … cut short,” “overcome this traffic,” and “highly increased.” There are also spelling errors, including “effeciently” and “contibutes,” and some repetition of “longer weekend” and “pollution.” Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise wording would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “if,” and most of the meaning remains clear. Some sentences show good control, such as “If people stay home for two days a week it can significantly decrease the traffic.” There are nevertheless some grammatical errors and awkward constructions. For example, “people who work on a laptop or computer, their screentime…” is a faulty sentence structure; it would be clearer as “People who work on laptops or computers have increased screen time.” In “a person with fresh and healthy mind,” an article is missing, and “its beneficial” needs an apostrophe in “it’s.” Greater accuracy with sentence construction, articles, and punctuation would help you build on the range already attempted.
