Student answer (Band 5.5)

The labour days of working class should be smaller and workers should have a long time for rest at the weekend. I completly disagree with the notion of extension of leisure time for workers.

My point of view about availabilty of long rest time for labour class mean low wage would be paid to workers. As it will make them hard to meet the needs of their family. They would not be in position to provide good nutrition, education and accomodaton for their familities in such a small salary. This longer rest period will cost them a lot in form of depriving their families with basic need. By working long time period, they can give strong financial support to their families. They can afford good standard of living for themselves and their families.

My second perpective in favour of long working hour is that length of working hours would enables producers to increse production of commodities. This rise in production will increse in demand of various thing in market and ultimately increse the profit margin of producers. so this would not only enhance market activity but also make rise in the wages of labour class. More working will make the econmoy of acountry strong and posperous. it will also reduce the cost of production as routine work without gap make use of all raw material of producers in time and they will be able to meet the demand of their customers.

In concusion, the shrinking the working hour can create anxiet in working class by making their financial conditions weak rather them giving any satifaction. on the other hand less working hours can hamper the development of a econmY and reduce the process of production.so the working hour shuld longer and weekenf should shorter.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you disagree with a shorter working week. You give two relevant reasons—workers may earn less, and longer hours may increase production and support the economy—and explain each with some consequences for families or producers. This addresses the task, but the ideas are not equally convincing or fully developed. In particular, the claim that longer hours will raise workers’ wages is asserted rather than explained, and the link between uninterrupted work and lower production costs needs a specific example or clearer reasoning. Develop each point with a concrete illustration and acknowledge the question’s focus on the benefits of a longer weekend before explaining why you consider them less important.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “My second perspective” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the structure. However, some connections are mechanical, and the reasoning within the second body paragraph moves quickly from production to demand, profits, wages, and economic strength without making every link clear. The conclusion also repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Use clearer links between cause and effect, and make pronouns such as “it” or “they” refer unmistakably to a specific group or idea. This would make the progression smoother while preserving your clear paragraph structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “financial support,” “standard of living,” “production,” and “profit margin,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “depriving their families” and “market activity.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording around “working,” “long,” and “increase,” while several choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear—for example, “labour days … should be smaller,” “long time for rest,” and “make rise in the wages.” Spelling errors such as “completly,” “accomodaton,” and “econmoy” also reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Build a more precise set of phrases for working hours, income, and productivity, and proofread spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “As it will make them hard to meet the needs of their family” and a relative clause in “raw material … and they will be able to meet the demand.” These attempts show some range, but errors in sentence construction and agreement recur. For example, “length of working hours would enables” combines incompatible verb forms, while “the shrinking the working hour can create” has an incorrect noun phrase and singular/plural pattern. Some sentences also begin with “As” or “so” in ways that leave the relationship between clauses unclear, and punctuation is inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause boundaries, then check each sentence for a complete, clearly connected structure.
