Student answer (Band 6.0)

In contemporary socities, many people belvie that employees should work shorter days and have long weekends. I agree with this views becuase it can longer weekend can create prouducitvity and improve health.

On the one hand, a shorter week days can help wokrers main a better work life balance. Many employees have longer hours at offices and sometimes working late, they spend less time with their families and persona interest. If they have an extra day off, they can relax and spend quality time with their loved one and reduce stress. For instance, many people who are working extra hours a day suffer from disease such as high blood pressure, insomnia, burnout and backpain, so it is essenntail for every employees to work considrably hours which can not effect their health. As a result, they may happier and healthier.

On the other hand, longer weekends can enhance productivity. When employee have enough time to rest they can likely to work with a fresh mind and motivation. For instance, well rested workers may concentrate better and completely their task more effiently. Additionally, longer weekends help them to develop new skills such as IT and sofrware developer because they have enough time and these knowledge assest them in there promotion and provide a handsome salary. However, companies should organies a schedule carefully to ensure that shorter week do no effect the business performane.

In conclusion, i strongly agree that worker should have shorter working week and longer weekends because this can improve their well being and help them worl more efficiently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both benefits named in the essay: improved work–life balance and greater productivity. The examples about stress-related health problems and workers concentrating better help extend these points, while the final qualification about companies organising schedules shows some awareness of practical considerations. This fits a response that addresses the task and supports its main ideas. To strengthen the development further, explain the link between an extra day off and productivity more precisely, and make the skills-development point more directly relevant to the proposed shorter week. Some claims, such as the health effects, are broad and would benefit from a specific or qualified explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and each body paragraph has a recognisable central focus. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some of the flexibility expected at the next level. However, several links between sentences are mechanical, and some references are unclear—for example, “these knowledge assest them” does not clearly identify what knowledge is meant. The health example also moves quickly from extra hours to several illnesses and then to a recommendation. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “work life balance,” “quality time,” “productivity,” “motivation,” and “business performance.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both personal and workplace effects. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “help” and “enough,” while frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word forms make the writing less clear: examples include “socities,” “belvie,” “prouducitvity,” “effiently,” and “performane.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “shorter week days” and “develop new skills such as IT and software developer.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing natural collocations, such as “shorter working week,” “acquire IT skills,” and “improve efficiency.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea (“If they have an extra day off…”) and a concession about companies organising schedules. However, control is inconsistent, and faulty sentence construction sometimes makes relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “Many employees have longer hours at offices and sometimes working late” shifts awkwardly between verb forms, while “When employee have enough time to rest they can likely to work” has problems with agreement and the verb pattern. The opening sentence of the first body paragraph also contains a run-on structure. Practise forming complete clauses, maintaining subject–verb agreement, and using modal or infinitive patterns accurately; then check punctuation around longer sentences.
