Student answer (Band 6.0)
I agree with the statement that says the working week should be shorter as well as the weekend should be longer for the workers. Less work time motivates the workers while overload of work hours affect the productivity of the workers.
Firstly, people come to work as this is a part of their life and if they are motivated to their work they can focus on it heavily. Motivation is important to continue working hard as an employee which comes in abundance when the worker gets shorter work period. It allows them to make time for their family and friends as well as the side hustles most of the people may have in their day to day life. For example, if the working week is longer than five days, people won't be able to join weekly family lunches and social programs in many cases.
Lastly, longer weekends help workers heal more efficiently while preparing them for the next big tasks in the upcoming weeks. The long weekends can satisfy the individuals soul and social needs which are very important in making them productive in daily worklife. A productive employee can produce more efficient result than multiple unproductive employees and there's a high chance that the unproductive ones may make more mistakes than the ones who are productive because of the longer weekends they are getting from their employer.
In conclusion, shorter working weeks and longer weekends are necessary for every employee so that they can live their lives to the fullest which eventually helps the employer as they become more motivated and productive in this process. The difference between the employees who have shorter weekends versus the ones who have longer weekends are very obvious in the real world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you support shorter working weeks and longer weekends. You give relevant reasons, including motivation, time for family and friends, and recovery before returning to work, and the example of missing weekly family lunches helps make one point concrete. This fully addresses the task, with some ideas developed more effectively than others. However, several claims remain broad—for example, that longer weekends “satisfy the individuals soul” and that productive employees produce more efficient results than multiple unproductive ones. Explain the cause-and-effect links more precisely and support the productivity comparison with a specific example or evidence. That additional development would make the argument more consistently convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting reasons, and a conclusion restates the position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Lastly,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, the linking is somewhat mechanical, and the second body paragraph combines recovery, social needs, productivity, and mistakes without clearly separating or developing these connections. Some references are also unclear, particularly “the ones who are productive” and “the difference between the employees,” where the comparison could be stated more precisely. Use transitions that show the relationship between ideas, and organise each paragraph around one main point with a clear explanation and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss work, motivation, family life, and productivity, including terms such as “overload,” “motivated,” and “productive.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “side hustles” and “social needs.” However, some choices are informal or imprecise for an academic essay, and several phrases sound unnatural: “focus on it heavily,” “satisfy the individuals soul,” and “produce more efficient result.” Repetition of “workers,” “productive,” and “longer weekends” also limits flexibility. Aim for more accurate collocations and vary key terms where appropriate; this would make your meaning more precise and your style more consistently academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “if the working week is longer than five days” and “so that they can live their lives to the fullest.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “overload of work hours affect” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the individuals soul” needs a possessive form. In “a productive employee can produce more efficient result,” the singular count noun also needs an article or plural form. Review agreement, possessives, and articles, and check long sentences for clear clause structure. Greater accuracy across these patterns would strengthen control without sacrificing sentence variety.
