Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, many people spend a large part of their lives at work. I strongly agree that working week should be shorter because it can improve people's health and help them work more efficently.

To begin with, there are several advantages of shorter working days. First, it give them chance to spend more time with family. They can spend quality time with their familiy members and improve their bonnd. For example, nurses and teacher can spend more time their families and feel refreshed. Second, shorter working days helps in improving their physical well-being. people can get chance of spend time in hobbies and exercises. As a result, they can feel more happier and healthier.

In addition, this trend also helps in icrease their work productivity. When people have ore for relaxation, they feel fresh and can concentrate better on jobs. This can improve their working capacity. For instance, nurses have enough days off can feel less tired and provides qualitative care to tehir patient. Moreover, shorter working days helps in improve menatl health. If people can get enough time for relaxation, it may helps in reduce their stress and worry. Nowadays a large number of people are depressed with their a long wotking hours. Thus, they should have a shorter working days for maintain their mental well-being.

In conclusion, I completely agree with the idea that people should have shorter working days because it gives worker more time to relax, increase productivity, remove stress and maintain their physical and mental well-being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you agree that the working week should be shorter. You address several relevant reasons, including family time, physical and mental well-being, and productivity, and you support these with examples involving nurses and teachers. This gives the response a clear, relevant argument. To strengthen it further, develop the examples and explain the link to a shorter working week more precisely. For instance, the discussion shifts between “shorter working days” and “enough days off,” without clarifying whether you mean fewer workdays, shorter shifts, or both. Some claims, such as shorter hours improving productivity, are asserted broadly; a specific explanation or example would make the support more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the progression. The ideas within each paragraph are generally grouped by topic, moving from family and physical health to productivity and mental health. However, the links between some points are abrupt, and the repeated use of “shorter working days” makes the argument feel less precisely connected to the question about a shorter working week. Improve progression by using clearer transitions between related claims and by referring consistently to the same proposed change. More explicit links between each example and its main point would also make the cohesion more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “quality time,” “physical well-being,” “productivity,” “concentrate,” and “mental well-being.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range and control are limited by repeated general wording such as “shorter working days,” “more time,” and “feel.” Several spelling errors—“efficently,” “familiy,” “bonnd,” “icrease,” and “tehir”—also reduce accuracy and can distract the reader. Some word combinations are unnatural, for example “improving their working capacity” and “depressed with their a long working hours.” Build a more precise range of collocations for work schedules and their effects, and proofread spelling and word forms. This would make your argument clearer and more fluent without changing its relevant content.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If people can get enough time for relaxation…” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer clauses. Examples include “it give them chance,” “shorter working days helps,” and “it may helps,” where subject–verb agreement or verb forms are incorrect. Articles and plurals are also problematic in “a shorter working days,” while “nurses have enough days off can feel less tired” lacks a grammatical link between its clauses. Practise agreement, articles, and clause construction, then check each sentence for a complete, correctly connected structure. Greater accuracy would make the ideas easier to follow.
