Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a long-standing debate whether weekdays should be shorter and employees should get three or four days weekend, or whether holidays should remain the same. In my opinion, it is crucial to reduce the number of working days because this can contribute to a better produtivity at work and will improve the quality of people's lives.
Many studies claim that employees who have longer weekend tend to have a higher efficiency and productivity at their jobs. This is mainly because the get the chance to have a good rest and recharge their energy, which will help them to get back to work with a better focusing and a clear mind. As a result they show a higer performance.
Furthermore, this shift can significantly enhance individuals' lives because they will spend longer time with their families and freinds and they will have enough time to work on learning new skills or doing several habits. This can lead to a great relief, a better psycological and social sitiuation for workers, and also can benefits thier careers. For example, people will engage in more socail events such as gathering with extented family and hanging out with friends, and parents would spend longer quality time with their children and will miss much fewer activities with them.
In conclusion, I believe that shortening the working weekdays is a great idea as it secures a much better socail life for all of us, improves the productivity of workers, and also gives us the opportunity to do our favorite habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you support reducing the working week because it could improve productivity and quality of life. Both reasons are relevant, and the examples about parents spending time with children and attending social events help make the second point concrete. This addresses the task well, but the two arguments are not developed equally: the productivity paragraph relies on a general reference to “Many studies” without explaining a specific mechanism or example, while the lifestyle point receives more detail. To strengthen the response, explain how a shorter week could maintain or improve output in practice, and develop a relevant example or qualification. Your conclusion restates your view, though it could synthesise the reasons more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. The progression from workplace productivity to personal and family benefits is logical, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” make the organisation easy to follow. Some connections are less smooth within sentences, however. In the second body paragraph, the list of learning skills, habits, psychological wellbeing, careers, social events, and family time moves quickly between related but distinct points. The opening contrast about whether holidays should remain the same is also not developed later. Grouping the lifestyle benefits more tightly and using clearer links between cause and result would make cohesion less mechanical and the progression more consistent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “productivity,” “recharge their energy,” “quality of people’s lives,” and “psychological and social situation.” These choices show an attempt to express ideas beyond basic vocabulary. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing awkward: “a better focusing,” “doing several habits,” and “a great relief” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “produtivity,” “freinds,” and “sitiuation.” Aim to learn vocabulary in common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. For example, use “focus more effectively,” “develop new hobbies,” and “improved psychological wellbeing” to express these ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “employees who have longer weekend” and a result clause beginning “which will help them.” Most ideas remain understandable, and the longer sentences show an effort to connect causes and outcomes. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “employees who have longer weekend” needs an article or plural form, and “this can lead … and also can benefits” has an incorrect verb form and awkward coordination. In “they will spend longer time,” the noun phrase also needs a more natural grammatical form. Review articles with singular countable nouns, subject–verb agreement, and parallel structures; these corrections would improve accuracy while preserving your range.
