Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, the existing working day is 5 in a week and workers generally get 2 days off in weekend. So, I think is is well balanced for the workers and for the job owners and extending weekend is no needed.

Previously, workers worked more hours like 10-12 hours a day. The got day off barely so that frustation caught them easily. Then, a riot went up in Chicago and after that a new rule had been released. Workers got Eight hours working day and got two day off . Since then workers get their day off regularly and a have a specific working hour. It helps them to be more productive and efficient. They get proper rest and be prepare for the next day challenge.

Moreover, is is also refresh their mental health and in weekend they can go for a long trip for refreshing their mind and get back to work with a energetic body with a refresh mind. But if we extend this weekend holiday it will be less balanced for the businessman to manage their business. Shipment and delivery date can be delayed and overall productivity and work flow will be hampered. In addition, getting too much gap between work can lead a distraction to the work and workers can feel disturbance.

In conclution, Two say off and eight hours working day is fine and well balance both for workers and employers. With this pattern Workers can get a relaxed and energetic body and it helps to work more productively which helps the employers passively end of the day.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you disagree with extending the weekend and consider the current two days off and eight-hour day balanced. You give relevant reasons, including workers’ rest and productivity, and possible disruption to shipments and business operations. The historical reference to the move towards an eight-hour day also supports your view, though its connection to why the present arrangement should remain unchanged could be explained more explicitly. Some points are asserted rather than developed: for example, you say a longer break could distract workers, but do not explain how this might affect their return to work or provide a concrete example. The response addresses the task and has a clear basis, while fuller explanation and support for these ideas would strengthen it further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, the body presents reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “But,” and “In addition” help signal the movement between points. However, the progression within the body is sometimes abrupt. The historical account shifts quickly to productivity, and the discussion of workers’ mental health and business delays could be separated or connected more clearly. Some links are also mechanical, while references such as “this weekend holiday” are not fully precise. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each example supports your central argument; this would make the overall organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “productive,” “efficient,” “shipment,” and “productivity,” which helps communicate your main ideas. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the reader pause. Examples include “day off barely,” “a riot went up,” “less balanced,” and “a refresh mind.” Spelling errors such as “frustation” and “conclution” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common word partnerships for work and wellbeing, and check spelling and word forms during revision. More precise vocabulary would help you express the business and worker-related consequences without relying on repeated general terms such as “work” and “get.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional idea beginning “if we extend this weekend holiday,” and most of your meaning can be understood. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer constructions. Examples include “I think is is well balanced,” “The got day off,” and “It helps them to be more productive and efficient,” where the subject or verb form is not correctly handled. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “a have a specific working hour” and “two day off .” These errors recur and can make some sentences difficult to process. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and checking each sentence for complete clauses, agreement, and punctuation.
