Student answer (Band 5.5)
Now a days people working five days a week, which can be hectic sometimes. So, there is a debate that working week should be smaller and workers should have a longer weekend. I partially agree with this debate, i think longer weekend should be granted once a month only becuase in this way workers will remain productive and motivated.
Firstly, if working week is shorter, workers will lose their motivation of work and it will effect their work quality. It will become difficult for workers to meet projects deadlines due to less time of work and it ultimately leads them to fall down. For example, as we already knew that first day is always boring after holidays, people often don't have enough energy to do work, specially on mondays. Same goes with the last day of week people don't do important or more work on friday as it leads to weekend. So eventually, there are only 3 days in a week where people doing work with proper concentration.
So, if workers got long weekend it will automatically effect their work quality which can have serious consequences such as losing of potential projects. When companies don't have enough projects to work on, they would not hire more emplyees and it will declined jobs rate. Companies may also will terminate some of old employees or may be reduce salaries of employees which create financiall burden on them. On the other hand, long weekend can be granted once a month or on the success of any project. In this way, the employees will stay motivated and do work with utmost responsibility which leads them to success and they can also enjoy a long weekend after hardwork and hectic month.
In conclusion, the working week should not be shorter always but it can be occasionally or once a month. In this way, workers will be encouraged to do more work with proper concentration becuase they have to achieve something. This will not just help company to successed but also have a good impact on individual growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you partially agree, proposing a longer weekend once a month rather than a permanently shorter working week. You address both the possible effects on productivity and the benefit of occasional time off, and the examples about Monday and Friday help explain your reasoning. This meets the task well, though some claims are asserted rather than fully supported. For instance, the suggestion that reduced working time would lead to job losses or salary cuts needs a clearer explanation, and the monthly arrangement is not compared with other ways to improve workers’ wellbeing. To strengthen the response further, develop the reasoning behind your compromise and support the predicted effects with a more specific example or evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs explain your concerns and compromise, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The move from workers’ concentration to companies losing projects and reducing staff is not fully explained, while “So” and “In this way” recur without always showing the precise relationship between ideas. The paragraph beginning “So, if workers got long weekend” also combines consequences and your alternative proposal. Make each paragraph’s central point more distinct and use clearer links between cause and effect.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “productive,” “motivated,” “work quality,” “financial burden,” and “concentration.” These choices communicate your main ideas, but the range is limited and several word combinations or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the reader pause. Examples include “smaller” for a working week, “fall down” for a negative work outcome, and “jobs rate” when discussing employment. Spelling errors such as “becuase,” “emplyees,” and “financiall” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of workplace collocations and check spelling and word forms during revision; this will help express your argument more naturally and clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and longer sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because,” “which,” and “when.” This gives you a basis for expressing a developed argument, but control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “people doing work with proper concentration” needs a finite verb, and “it will declined jobs rate” has an incorrect verb form and sentence structure. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “there is a debate that working week should be smaller” and the comma splice in “I partially agree with this debate, i think.” Practise accurate complex sentences and proofread for complete clauses, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
