Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modren era, people spend a lot of time on their office work even in weekend so they do not have time for relaxing and for entertainment. Some people argue that office manager should give long weekend and overcome the working hours and others believe that working hours should be extensive because if they work more they earn more that overcome the financial strain. But i think office should provide flexible working hours with suitsble pay and also workers should have a weekend where thet feel relax but not a longer weekend because its can disturbe productivity of work.

I partly disagree with the longer weekend because people become lazy if they spent a lot of time free and something they do not pay attention on task that reduce the productivity of work. On the other hand, working week should not be too much long in which worker do not have enough time for relax and time for their family. If the working hours longer than normal working hours they can not manage their task effectively and feel tired and bore. So offices shold do their working hours flexible where employees work and focus on the goals that increse the productivity of work.

In my real life experiance two placements of work one was with long weekend and other with extensive working hours. In extensies working hours people feel fraustrated and tired they do not have enough time for relax so the employees leave the jobs beside that the placement who give long weekend to employees, they became lazy and did not focuse on work that damage the reputation of company in work.

In conclusion, companies should introduce flexible working hours with friendly environment in which employees feel comfortable and do their woek in effective way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is identifiable: you partly disagree with a longer weekend and favour flexible hours instead. You address both sides by noting that excessive free time may reduce focus, while long working hours can leave employees tired and short of family time. The workplace-placement example also supports your view. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that workers “become lazy” would be stronger with a clearer explanation or a specific example. The discussion of flexible hours is relevant but does not fully explain how this arrangement answers the question of whether the working week itself should be shorter. Develop that connection and support each main reason more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to reasons, a personal example and a conclusion. The contrast between the effects of long hours and long weekends gives the discussion a basic logical direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in the first body paragraph, where several ideas are joined in long sentences. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help, but some connections feel mechanical, and references such as “that” in “that reduce the productivity” are not always clear. Give each paragraph a more focused central point, use shorter sentences where ideas change, and make the relationship between claims and examples explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “working hours,” “financial strain,” “productivity,” “employees” and “flexible working hours.” These terms help communicate the main argument. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts less natural or occasionally harder to understand. Examples include “extensive working hours,” “friendly environment” and “damage the reputation of company in work”; these do not express the intended ideas precisely. Spelling errors such as “modren,” “suitsble” and “experiance” are also noticeable. Build a bank of accurate workplace collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully, especially for repeated key terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If the working hours longer than normal working hours…” and clauses explaining consequences. This shows an effort to vary sentence forms. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “people become lazy if they spent” mixes present and past forms, while “office should provide” and “they can not manage” need more accurate article or auxiliary use. Some sentences also combine several clauses without clear punctuation, as in the opening paragraph. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and tense consistency, and separating complete ideas with appropriate punctuation.
