Student answer (Band 6.0)

For employed people, the days of working should be lesser in number and the employees should have a longer weekend. I strongly agree to this statement as it gives a work-life balance and help employees relax their mind during the weekend which leads to a much more productive week ahead.

To begin with, work-life balance is very much required when it comes to those who are employed. Dedicating six days a week to their work may result to a disconnect to their life.Employed people should be given time to attend other stuff such as family, hobbies and friends so they less prone to burnouts. This time can be utilized by them to divide their focus on other aspects of life apart from work. For instance, an average indian employee working a 9 to 5 for 6 days a week will more likely quit from their work because of unbalance.

On the other hand, working people should be given the time to relax their mind. Overworking will create a significant impact to their health and this will impact their work.If they are given enough time to unwind, employees are much more likely to be more productive during working hours. More focus and undivided attention will lead to more work getting done without stressing out. A long weekend of relaxation will also help reduce fatique experienced by the employees.

To conclude, for a balanced work life there should be longer weekends provided to the employees with a shorter working week. This will help the employees in being highly productive during work by focusing on themselves first.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly support a shorter working week and longer weekend, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You address the task with two relevant reasons: improved work-life balance and better rest leading to greater productivity. The examples of time for family and hobbies and the hypothetical Indian employee help illustrate these points. This is a developed response, although some claims are broad or not fully explained—for example, the suggestion that a six-day schedule would make an average employee more likely to quit is asserted without showing why or offering specific support. Develop such examples and explain the link between longer weekends and the outcomes more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from work-life balance to relaxation and productivity is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” guide the reader. This is a coherent arrangement, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. “On the other hand” suggests a contrast, although the second body paragraph adds another supporting reason. There are also abrupt transitions between claims, such as moving from health effects to productivity. Use more precise linking and explain how each point follows from the previous one; ensure spacing after punctuation to make the paragraphing easier to read.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “work-life balance,” “productive,” “unwind,” and “undivided attention.” However, the range is limited and several choices or word forms are noticeably inaccurate, which sometimes makes the phrasing awkward. Examples include “lesser in number,” “disconnect to their life,” “less prone to burnouts,” and “relax their mind.” “Fatique” is also misspelled, and “stuff” is too informal for this essay. Aim for more natural collocations and precise forms, such as “fewer working days,” “become disconnected from their personal lives,” and “reduce the risk of burnout.” This would make your meaning smoother and more academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If they are given enough time to unwind…” and a relative clause in “which leads to a much more productive week ahead.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “it gives a work-life balance and help employees” needs a consistent subject–verb pattern, while “may result to a disconnect” uses an incorrect grammatical construction. “This time can be utilized by them to divide their focus” is also awkwardly structured. Several sentences run together, as in “their life.Employed people” and “burnouts. This time.” Practise checking agreement and sentence boundaries, and revise complex sentences for clear grammatical relationships.
