Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people argue that working week should be more concise and workers should have extended weekends. From my point of view, this change should take place so that workers will be able to give more time to their families and for their selfgrowth.

Presently, workers are struggling with the work schedule. The main reason is that due to packed work schedule of first five days of a week, they are unable to give proper time to their families and to enjoy their hobbies. Moreover, workload beyound their capacity is also negatively affecting their health. As a result of which they are unable to perform their duties with pure focus and concentration. For instance, my uncle who died last year, had faced mental health issues because of huge workload of job and longer working week. He remained depressed consistently for three years, because he was unable to give sufficient amount of time to his family and at last this depression resulted in his death.

When all the nations make a rule that no company or organization is allowed to ask his employees to work for more than 4 days a week, then workers will be able to give an adequate time to their families. Moreover, this thing will also increase the recovery time for workers and to get out of their mental frustations. So, when they will return back to their job places, they will be able to perform their duties efficiently without any distractions. And this thing will positively impact the growth of the companies and subsequently economy of the countries. For example, there is a shop in our town which remains open 4 days a week and its popularity is increasing day by day. The reason is that its workers work with full concentration and focus, because they know that after 4 days of work, they will get a 3 days leave to recover.

In conclusion, workers under a lot of stress due to longer working week and they get a very little time to recover. But by decreasing the tenure of working week and increasing weekened period, this problem can be sorted out. In my perspective, this rule should be implemented as soon as possible, because it will benefit both the workers and a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you support a shorter working week because it would give workers more time for family and personal development. You address both the proposed change and its possible benefits, and you extend your points with examples, including your uncle’s experience and the local shop. This fits the descriptor for a response that addresses the task and supports its ideas. To strengthen the development further, explain more precisely how a four-day week could be introduced across different industries; the shop example is relevant but does not fully demonstrate that the policy would work broadly. The claim that your uncle’s depression resulted in his death is also very serious and would benefit from careful qualification.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: it states your view, explains the problems associated with long working weeks, presents the benefits of a shorter week, and concludes by restating your position. Paragraphing supports this structure, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “As a result,” and “For example” help readers follow the argument. At times, however, connections feel mechanical or the reference is unclear. For instance, “this thing” is repeated and does not specify whether it refers to the shorter week, increased recovery time, or improved performance. The long sentence beginning “When all the nations make a rule” also carries several ideas at once. Use more precise references and vary how you connect supporting points.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss work, wellbeing, and economic effects, including “workload,” “recovery time,” “concentration,” and “efficiently.” Some less common expressions are attempted, but several choices or spellings are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “selfgrowth,” “beyound,” “frustations,” and “weekened period.” Phrases including “packed work schedule,” “pure focus,” and “a 3 days leave” also show that collocation and word form are not consistently controlled. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, for example “heavy workload,” “focus fully,” and “three days off.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “which,” and your meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “working week should be” needs an article, while “workers under a lot of stress” is missing a verb in the conclusion. In “no company or organization is allowed to ask his employees,” the pronoun does not agree with the subject, and “they will get a 3 days leave” has a number-form error. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly around sentence boundaries. Review articles, complete sentence structure, agreement, and plural forms, then proofread each sentence to improve accuracy while retaining your complex structures.
