Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You clearly support a shorter working week and longer weekend, and you give relevant reasons: workers need time to rest, enjoy life and protect their health. The example of a labourer working late also relates to the topic. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the reasons are repeated rather than developed, and the example is unclear: it is difficult to tell whether the worker wants to work late or is required to do so. The position is stated at the beginning, but the argument would be more convincing with a clearer explanation of how shorter hours benefit workers or employers. The response is also 31 words below the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic line of thought: workers are tired, need time to enjoy life, and may benefit from a longer weekend. You also use simple linking words such as “but,” “so” and “for example” to connect points. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the main ideas and example are not clearly separated. Progression is difficult to follow in places, particularly in the labourer example, where the relationship between low income, working late and the proposed shorter week is unclear. Repeated references to working and enjoying life also make the argument feel circular. Organise the response into an introduction, developed body paragraphs and a conclusion, with each paragraph focused on one reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words and phrases, including “tired,” “routine,” “health” and “enjoy his life,” so the general message can be understood. However, vocabulary is limited and repetitive, especially the repeated use of “work” and “life.” Several spelling errors and inaccurate word choices make the writing harder to read, such as “diffulculies,” “weakend,” “demage” and “new zeel.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “full fil the needs” and “repair himself.” Build a more precise range for this topic, such as terms for rest, productivity and work-life balance, and check spelling and collocations carefully. This would make your reasons clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses simple statements and attempts to connect ideas with “because,” “but” and “so.” These attempts show some awareness of linking clauses, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to follow. For example, “i am agree” has an incorrect verb form, while “he spent his whole life in working” has problems with tense and sentence construction. In “he should also given the chance,” the passive form is incomplete. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with many sentences beginning in lowercase and full stops missing or misplaced. Practise accurate subject–verb forms, articles and complete passive constructions, then proofread each sentence.
