Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is usually argued that the working days of the workers should be shortened so that they can enjoy their weekends. But i completely agree this proposal beacuse of many reasons thta i will explain in the following.

Despite some people often says that it will slow the economy by not meeting the production demands of the country and exports but i think if they are given more time for relaxation and entertainment, they will be more motivated and active in their work and it will ultimately increase their progress.

Furthermore if the working days will be reduced, companies will have to hire more staff that will reduced the level of unemployment. As in most of the developed countries working class always tries to work for longer hours as they are being paid high wages for their duties.

In addition to this workers will get a chance to maintain and balance their social life. Mostle there are greater chances of exposure to different kinds of psychological disorders if a person is continuously working for most of the week.

Despite getting a day leave on Sunday workers usually spend it by sleeping or lying on bed and hardly talks with their friends and family members because they wants to get rid of tiredness as they were being handling responsibilities the whole week.

On account of these reasons I am strongly convinced that the workers should be allotted a longer weekend so that they can do some healthy or relaxing activity and stabilize there work and life balance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening (“I completely agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give several relevant reasons: greater motivation and productivity, possible job creation, improved social life, and reduced psychological strain. This covers the task well, and the point about workers using their only day off to recover gives a relevant illustration. However, some claims need fuller explanation or qualification. For example, the link between shorter working weeks and hiring more staff is asserted rather than explained, and the point about developed-country workers working longer hours is not clearly connected to your argument. To strengthen the response further, develop each main reason with a specific example and make the relationship between the evidence and your position explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, supporting points, and a concluding statement. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “In addition to this,” and “On account of these reasons” help signal the sequence of ideas. However, the progression is not always smooth. The sentence about developed countries and high wages interrupts the point about unemployment, while the paragraph beginning “In addition to this” moves between social life, psychological disorders, and the Sunday example without clear separation. Some connections are also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of additive transitions. Group related ideas into focused paragraphs and use clearer references to show how each example supports the main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “production demands,” “unemployment,” “psychological disorders,” and “work and life balance.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “stabilize” and “exposure,” though some combinations are not natural or precise. Examples include “increase their progress,” “maintain and balance their social life,” and “allotted a longer weekend.” Spelling errors such as “beacuse,” “thta,” and “Mostle” are noticeable, and several word choices make the argument less fluent. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for work, productivity, and wellbeing, and proofread spelling and word forms. More precise phrasing would make your ideas easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure (“if they are given more time…”) and a subordinate clause explaining why workers spend Sunday resting. However, control is uneven, and errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “some people often says” should use a plural verb, while “if the working days will be reduced” needs a more suitable conditional form. In “they wants” and “they were being handling,” agreement and verb-form errors affect accuracy. Punctuation is also inconsistent, especially the missing space after “weekends.” and the long sentence beginning “Despite getting a day leave.” Practise accurate complex clauses and check each sentence for subject–verb agreement and verb form.
