Student answer (Band 6.0)
There have been considerable debate about how long a typical working week should have. There are people who argue that working week should not be longer and workers should enjoy a longer weekened. I agree with this opinion and will explain the reasons about why should woorkers prefer a longer weekend.
Firstly, longer weekend enable workers to build and maintain strong family connections as they find more time after a hectic week at workplace. On weekened, employees gives time to their friends and families and often goes to their relatives places and gossips late into the night. This type of social interaction helps in building and maintaining strong family connections. Therefore, workers should have shorter working week because it will help in connecting them to their families.
Secondly, shorter working weeks are closely associated with strong mental as well as physical health. Longer weekend give an employee enough time for physical exercise which is vital for mental as well as physical health because it reduce disease occurences and lead to hormonal changes in the body. For instance, It has been reported that those who exercise heavily stay healthy as well as mentally. Consequently, longer weekend contributes to mental as well as physical well being.
Admittedly, some people believe that longer working week contributes to productivity. This makes sense because longer week means more time is available to an employee which can be spend in completing a task or a project.
In conclusion, longer weekend is the need of the day. I firmly believe that employees can work on their relationship with their friends and families and ensure their overall well being during weekend. Therefore, weekend should be longer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: longer weekends can support family relationships and improve physical and mental well-being. The exercise example also helps illustrate the health point. However, these ideas are not developed equally: the family paragraph repeats the benefit of stronger connections without explaining in detail how a shorter working week would enable this, while the health claim about exercise and hormonal changes is asserted rather than clearly supported. You acknowledge the opposing view that longer weeks may increase productivity, but do not explain why your reasons outweigh it. Develop each point with a specific example and a clearer response to the counterargument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a concession, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Admittedly,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some cohesion is nevertheless mechanical, and ideas within paragraphs occasionally repeat: “strong family connections” appears several times, as does “mental as well as physical” health. The concession is also brief and is not linked back to your position, so the argument feels less fully connected at that point. Use pronouns or varied references where clear, and add a sentence explaining why the benefits you describe outweigh the productivity concern. This would make the links between claims and the overall argument more natural.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “hectic week,” “social interaction,” “productivity,” and “overall well being,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “weekened,” “woorkers,” and “occurences.” Some collocations are unnatural or imprecise: “employees gives time,” “goes to their relatives places,” and “exercise heavily” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Repetition of “longer weekend” and “strong family connections” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; more precise phrasing will make your argument sound clearer and more academic without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“because it will help…”) and a relative clause (“which is vital…”). Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “There have been considerable debate” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “longer weekend enable” and “employees gives” also need agreement. Articles and sentence patterns are sometimes inaccurate, as in “working week” and “why should woorkers prefer.” In “which can be spend,” the passive form is incorrect. These errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your meaning, but they reduce accuracy. Review agreement, articles, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
