Student answer (Band 4.0)
It is often argued that working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. I believe that a shorter working week makes lives easier for worker and they allow workers to spend much time with thier families.
One important benefit of shorter working week is that workers can enjoy more free time and spend it with their families. A longer working week create stress and anxiety for workers and may also lead to different health problems. For instance, some companies ask their workers to work extra hours by forcing them, even they call them on weekend and offer some extra money.
On the other hand, ashorter week

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
Your position is identifiable: you support a shorter working week, and you give a relevant reason about family time and a possible health benefit. However, the response addresses the task only partially because it stops before developing the argument or explaining the opposing consideration introduced by “On the other hand.” The example about employers requiring extra hours is relevant, but its connection to a shorter official working week needs to be made clearer. The response contains 98 words, so it is 152 words below the 250-word minimum; 12 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To strengthen your response, explain your reasons with specific consequences or examples, address the question fully, and complete the unfinished point.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an opening states your view, followed by a paragraph giving a reason and an example. Linking phrases such as “One important benefit” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, the progression is incomplete: the final transition introduces a contrasting point, but the sentence ends at “ashorter week,” leaving the reader without the idea. The relationship between the example of forced overtime and the benefit of a shorter working week is also not fully explained. Develop each paragraph around one complete point, use clear links between the claim and its support, and finish with a conclusion that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “free time,” “stress and anxiety,” “health problems,” and “extra hours,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There is some repetition of “workers” and “week,” and several phrases are not expressed naturally, such as “makes lives easier for worker” and “spend much time with thier families.” Spelling and spacing errors, including “thier” and “ashorter,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe a shorter week as improving workers’ “work–life balance,” and say that it gives them “more time to spend with their families.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a sentence linking longer working hours with stress and health problems. However, errors in articles, agreement, and sentence construction are noticeable: “working week should be shorter” needs an article, “A longer working week create” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “even they call them on weekend” is not grammatically complete in this context. The final sentence is unfinished, which also prevents the structure from being assessed as complete. Practise accurate article use and verb agreement, and revise longer sentences so that clauses are connected correctly. For instance, “A longer working week creates stress” is a clearer grammatical pattern.
