Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today world, there is an on-going discussion between governments and cooperate companies that mainly focus on shortering the working week and workers should have longer weekends.I complete agree with this statement.
There are multiple reasons, why I agree with this statement. First and most important reason where working week should be shorter and longer weekend,is productivity of employee plays a very important and vital role for any company to grow. Consider an example: In Pakistan, sadly cooperate companies force its employee to even work on Weekends. Many local companies like Devsinc, and other force employees to do longer sittings in office even on weekends due to which employees producitivity is not only affected and eventually, he develop negative feelings for the company.
I believe people should be given longer weekends because on weekends, people tends to relax. They go out, do different activities like hanging out with family or meeting friends, trying local foods. They can spend more time with family and bond together.
Another reason why people should be provided with longer weekends is, they can also work on their interpersonal and technical skills which will help them to grow. For example: A person who wants to learn how LLM works, but he is not provided with enough time where he can focus on his technical skill will not be beneficial for the organization. Organization wants people with good and today relevant technical skills which will help them to generate more business. Companies like Google, Microsoft etc provide employee opportunities where they can focus on their interpersonal skills also.
Overall if people are given longer weekends, they become healthy. They get the time to focus more on themselves and also indulged themselves in different activities like joining gym etc. When working hours are reduced, I believe overall culture of office become pleasant because generally what happens is, when people are not provided enough weekends where they can relax, they eventually become toxic and irrirated. Suppose in office, development team have been working on completing and delivering the project to client, office will force them to work even on weekends due to which, relations between colleagues get affected, and they start arguing on small things and develop negative feelings for each other.
I believe every government in the world should adopt the model, where working week should be shorter and worker should have longer weekends. Countries like Finland, Denmark have already implemented this model, and outcome they are getting is extremely productive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I complete agree”) and remains consistent: you support shorter working weeks and longer weekends. You address the question with several relevant reasons, including employee productivity, time with family, skills development, and wellbeing. The Pakistan workplace example and the discussion of project deadlines help make the argument concrete. This fits a response that addresses the task and extends its ideas with support. Some claims, however, are broad or not fully explained: the reference to Finland and Denmark gives no detail about the outcomes, and the link between extra free time and improved business performance could be developed more carefully. Explain how shorter hours can maintain or improve output, and support general claims with specific evidence or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons, and a concluding recommendation. Ideas generally progress from productivity to personal life, skills, and workplace wellbeing, and examples are usually placed alongside the point they support. This gives the essay a coherent overall arrangement. However, the progression is not always smooth: the paragraph beginning “Overall” introduces further arguments rather than simply drawing the discussion together, and the final paragraph repeats the central recommendation. Linking phrases such as “Another reason” and “For example” are clear but somewhat formulaic. Some references, including “this model” and “the outcome they are getting,” could be more precise. Use topic sentences to signal each paragraph’s main claim and make the conclusion synthesise the reasons rather than add another example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main points, including “productivity,” “interpersonal skills,” “technical skills,” and “negative feelings.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “longer sittings” and “bond together.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “people,” “company,” and “weekends,” while several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “shortering,” “producitivity,” “irrirated,” and “cooperate companies.” Some combinations are unnatural, for example “generate more business” in this context and “focus on themselves and also indulged themselves.” Build a more accurate range of collocations for work-life balance and productivity, and proofread spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would make the argument sound clearer and more academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “when,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, and errors recur in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. Examples include “people tends to relax,” “employee plays,” “he develop,” and “office become pleasant.” The opening sentence also has an unclear structure, while “I complete agree” and “where working week should be shorter” show problems with adverb form and clause construction. Long sentences sometimes combine several ideas without clear punctuation, particularly the sentence beginning “Suppose in office.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and divide overloaded sentences into shorter units. Aim to retain complex clauses while making each sentence grammatically complete.
