Student answer (Band 5.5)
There has been a great debate with working hours, since the time of industrialization, in early 19s when there was a great demand of workers at factories and employees used to work around 12-18 hours shift everyday, with minimum wages which then leads to exhaustion, mental and physical health and many other problems. but gradually later, in the coming years positivie change was seen, the hours were shorten to 8 hours per day and working days per week reduces to five days a week. but In 2019, when a deadly corona viral spread around the world, new trend of felxible working hours and work from home has become so common these days, companies now do not micromanaging employees working hours but this comes with its own pros and cons.
In my opinion, in the era we are living in, with great technologies introduced like Ai. where indusries and evolving and adapting Ai gradually to their work flows, major changes have been seen in companies where is there is worker a graphic designer for instant used to design an ad in three hours can now instantly do it with Ai in few minutes. here comes the debate that designer who used to complete a task hours or more before the Ai was adapted in the companies workflow, is now spending comparitly few minutes to complete it, the why he is subjected to complete the whole eight hours shift where is he/she can complete the daily task in lesser hours. here is where I see a dire need to shorten the working week atleast by a day. specifically to the companies like these where Ai has made a significate changes in workflows. and same amount of work is done in less days. asi see a same pattern repeating here as the time industrialization when productions were at massive scale and people reach to a point of exchaustion with over work. today, even having Ai impletation in many companies, there is seem a greed get more work done with Ai ignoring the fact, Ai also require human to work more as to run it.
On the otherhand, I also strongly believe that shorter working week streatagy can not be adapted in other industries where the new technologies are still have not been adapted or last a major change in workflows, like health sector, or many other services industries. where its not that beneficial for workers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support a shorter week in workplaces where AI has increased productivity, while recognising that this may not suit every sector. The graphic-designer example helps explain your central argument, and the comparison with earlier industrial change is relevant. This addresses the question, but the two sides are not developed equally. The case for shorter hours receives most of the explanation, whereas the point about healthcare and other services is only briefly stated and lacks a specific reason or example. The discussion also focuses more on reducing working hours than on the practical implications of a longer weekend. To strengthen the response, explain how an extra day off would benefit workers and develop the exceptions with a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has an overall progression from historical context to your position, supporting example, and qualification about other industries. Paragraphing also separates the main stages of the argument. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated use of “but” and “here,” and the long second paragraph contains several ideas that would be easier to follow if divided. The sequence around the designer’s reduced task time and the question of an eight-hour shift is understandable, but the sentence beginning “here comes the debate” becomes difficult to track. The final paragraph introduces a contrast, yet its reasoning is not fully connected to the earlier discussion. Use clearer topic sentences, shorter units of explanation, and more precise referencing to make the progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “flexible working hours,” “micromanaging,” “workflows,” “exhaustion,” and “productivity”-related ideas. These choices show some range, but inaccurate spelling and word forms are frequent enough to reduce precision: examples include “positivie,” “felxible,” “comparitly,” “significate,” and “exchaustion.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “great debate with working hours,” “Ai require human to work more,” and “a greed get more work done.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main argument, but they make it less fluent. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing established collocations, such as “debate about working hours” and “increased pressure to raise output.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “where,” “when,” and “whereas,” and you use some longer sentences to explain cause and contrast. However, control is inconsistent, especially in the extended sentences. For example, “the hours were shorten to 8 hours” has an incorrect verb form, while “companies now do not micromanaging employees working hours” has an incorrect verb pattern. Agreement and sentence construction also need attention in “Ai also require human” and “there is seem a greed.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, with several sentences beginning with lowercase “but” and full stops separating closely connected clauses. Aim to express one main idea per sentence, then check verb forms, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
