Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is a public statement that working days in a week should be less than five so that job holders can have a longer weekend. To some extent, i disagree with this idea as i believe that working hours a day can be flexible and monthly or yearly holidays should be extended rather than cutting off working days. I will elaborate my opinion in the further essay.
Firstly, the insist of reducing a working week is coming from workers who are doing, phsically and mentally a very tough job, such as construction workers. And they are demanding for a longer weekend because thay believe, their body can not rest properly in one or two days. Also this statement is coming from thoses who can not do their planned activities in the weekend such as going to a trip with family, and may also from women who are working ladies but they also need to manage their house chores within a weekend.
Comparitively, if working days are deducted from a week, it can arise several issues, as some jobs require more time to cover. While a drawback to it is that, having too long of a weekend can put our bodies and minds to ease so starting a new week with same energy will be very difficult. For example, researches show that, it is very crucial for our body to maintain its working rhythm, as making it activity free for a while can result in shifting the body' momentum to zero.
To sum up, i thing that we should no make a week shorter but we can make a flexibility between the working hours in a day, for example, working half day on fridays. Also employers should benefit and give relief to their workers by allowing them more annual holidays. So it is not a solution to work few days a week as it can also has some drastic effects on the economy and can disturb a whole, work life balance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partly disagree with shortening the week and prefer flexible daily hours or more annual leave. You address the opposing view by mentioning physically demanding work, family trips and household responsibilities, then give reasons against a longer weekend, including work that takes more time and the value of maintaining a routine. These points are relevant, but some are not fully explained. For instance, the claim that a longer weekend could disrupt workers’ rhythm relies on an unspecified research finding, and the possible effects on the economy are only briefly asserted. Develop fewer points with clearer explanation or a specific example, and make the link between your partial disagreement and each supporting reason more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main direction is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Comparitively” and “To sum up” help identify stages in the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph mainly explains why workers might want a longer weekend, but its relationship to your disagreement is not made explicit. The second paragraph shifts between staffing needs, personal energy and research without clearly showing how each point supports the same claim. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s purpose, then connect examples and explanations with clearer referencing rather than relying mainly on transition words.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “working rhythm,” “annual holidays,” “house chores” and “work life balance,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling sometimes make the expression awkward: “the insist of reducing,” “Comparitively,” “activity free,” and “drastic effects” do not convey the intended ideas naturally. There are also repeated general terms such as “working” and “weekend,” where more precise wording could help distinguish work schedules, workload and rest. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling, rather than choosing more complex vocabulary at the expense of natural phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as” and “while,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “a flexibility” needs a different construction, “it can also has” has an incorrect verb form, and “the body' momentum” has faulty possessive punctuation. Capitalisation of “i” is also inconsistent. Review these patterns and proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb. More accurate control of these structures would make your reasoning easier to follow while preserving the range you are already attempting.
