Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that the working week should be shorter and employee should have longer weekend. I completely agree with this statement.

Having short working week and long weekend is very important . Firstly, workers who work in construction site, they become very tired if they work five days in a week. They need proper rest and the energy to give their best in work site. Longer weekend fullfil their needs to adjust with work. Secondly, workers who have families sometimes they couldnot give enough time to their families. As a result workers fall into depression in the end.For instance, in bangladesh 45% workers stay single in their life to live without having time management problems.

In additon, longer weekend is very essential for workers who work in different city or far away from their home. People sometimes moved to a another city leaving their beloved partner and their family to get better job opportunity. As a result they cannot go their house to meet their family because of the short weekend. So they become very frustrated and it effect their mental peace. Moreover, employeers don't have the chance to do other activities such as attending wedding, family program, etc because they don't get long weekend. Because of this many employee leave their job and become an entrepreneur so that they can have the freedom and the right to spend their quality time with family.

In conclusion, I believe that the working week should be shorter and the worker should have long weekend because of their mental peace and their well being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You state a clear position from the beginning—“I completely agree”—and maintain it in the conclusion. The response gives relevant reasons, including the need for construction workers to rest, time with family, and the difficulties faced by people working far from home. The Bangladesh example also attempts to support your point, although the claim that 45% of workers remain single is not explained or connected clearly to the effect of a shorter week. Some ideas are more developed than others: the family and travel points are explained, while the benefits of rest and the claim that employees leave to become entrepreneurs need clearer reasoning or more specific support. Develop each main point with a direct explanation of how a longer weekend would help.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” help readers follow the argument. However, the links between some claims are abrupt or unclear. For example, the statistic about workers staying single does not clearly follow from the point about family time, and the move from attending family events to leaving jobs and becoming entrepreneurs needs an explanation. Some transitions are also attached to long sentences, making relationships between ideas harder to track. Group related points more tightly, and use a sentence to explain the connection between each example and your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “construction site,” “proper rest,” “job opportunity,” “frustrated,” and “mental peace.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “quality time with family.” However, several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors reduce precision: “fullfil their needs to adjust with work,” “effect their mental peace,” and “family program” are not natural in this context. Spelling and word forms such as “additon,” “employeers,” and “employee” also need careful checking. Aim for accurate, natural combinations—for example, “recover from work,” “affect their mental well-being,” and “family events”—rather than relying on broad or repeated terms such as “long weekend.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “who,” “because,” and “so that.” This gives the essay some structural variety, and the main message remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries occur in several places. For example, “employee should have longer weekend” needs plural or article forms, “workers who work in construction site, they become” has an unnecessary repeated subject, and “People sometimes moved to a another city” has tense and article problems. Some sentences also run together, as in “In the end.For instance,” and “short weekend. So they become.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent tense, correct articles, and appropriate punctuation.
