Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that the employees should have a longer weekend and the weekdays should be comperatively shorter. While work-life balance should be ensured, I disagree with the statement that weekdays should be less than the weekend.
To begin with, for a business organisation, it is very important to ensure quality product and better service than the competitors. When a company allows too many day offs for the employees, the customer service will be sacrificed. Particularly for service organisations, the number of customer query is immense and to ensure competitive advantage, the problems should be addressed instantly and ensure immediate solution. For instance, a customer service personnel of Eastern Bank Limited in Bangladesh receives an average of 65 calls daily in their 8 hours duty schedule, which is a big number. Too many weekly holidays will increase the work load that will hamper employee satisfaction.
Likewise, those who works in the production sector should be present in the workplace to ensure the organisation meets the production capacity. To stay competitive in the market, product availability is a must and to ensure this, human monitoring plays a crucial role. If majority of the day of a week production hub remain closed, it will hamper the performance of the organisation. For example, the Textile mills needs to run 24/7 as the machines are innovated like this. Therefore, long weekends may result in big disaster. A two-day weekly hoilday can be considered as a good practice to ensure work-life balance for the employees.
In conclusion, too many weekly holidays may results into massive workloads, and it will hamper the business organisation to maintain quality service to ensure advantage than their competitors.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with shortening the working week, while acknowledging the importance of work-life balance. The two body paragraphs give relevant reasons, focusing on customer service and production, and the examples from a bank and textile mills help make the argument concrete. This addresses the task, but some points are not fully developed. For example, the claim that more days off increase workload and reduce employee satisfaction is asserted rather than explained, and the production argument assumes that longer weekends would mean facilities close rather than considering shift work. The conclusion repeats the main concern but does not add much synthesis. Develop these links and address the benefits of a longer weekend more directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “To begin with,” “Likewise,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between claims are unclear. In the first body paragraph, the move from customer queries to increased workload and employee satisfaction needs a more explicit explanation. The production paragraph also shifts from the need for human monitoring to machines running continuously without fully connecting those points. Referencing such as “this” in “to ensure this” is not always precise. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the cause-and-effect links explicit within each paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “work-life balance,” “competitive advantage,” “production capacity,” and “human monitoring.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common terms are attempted. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “too many day offs,” “number of customer query,” “big disaster,” and “advantage than their competitors.” Spelling errors, including “comperatively” and “hoilday,” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check common collocations and plural forms, and choose more formal alternatives where appropriate, such as “serious disruption” instead of “big disaster.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If majority of the day of a week production hub remain closed” and subordinate clauses introduced by “When” and “as.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “those who works” needs subject–verb agreement, while “the number of customer query is” requires a plural noun after “number of.” In “too many weekly holidays may results,” the modal should be followed by the base form. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in phrases such as “If majority of the day…” and “the Textile mills needs.” Review agreement, articles, and verb forms, then proofread complex sentences to ensure their clauses are complete and clearly connected.
