Student answer (Band 4.5)

some people belive that the working week should be shorter and workers should have a long weekend.

However, i totally disagree with this satement because people should work longer they can expect a long weekend. The working week should be shorter people may lazy to work at the same time they lost their experiance. Moreover, how we spend our day in work like the way we can get our pay well.

At the same time we will face a financial problems because in many countries people may get a day salary so we will face many problems of this..

So, in my opinion workers should not expect a long a weekend if they work shorter. because it is not a good thing for everyone

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear position—“i totally disagree”—and give relevant reasons, including the possibility of lower earnings for workers paid by the day. However, the response addresses the question only minimally: the claim that shorter weeks make people “lazy” and cause them to lose experience is not explained or supported with an example, and the point about pay is difficult to follow. The conclusion repeats your view without adding support. The response contains 112 words, so it is 138 words short of the 250-word minimum; 11 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To develop the response, explain each reason, show how it supports your position, and include a relevant example before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce the topic, give reasons, and finish with “So, in my opinion.” Linking expressions such as “However,” “Moreover,” and “At the same time” show an effort to connect points. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the relationship between shorter hours, laziness, experience, and pay is not made explicit, and the final sentence largely repeats the opening position. The response is also presented as one block, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the introduction, supporting points, and conclusion. Use separate paragraphs and connect each reason to its explanation with clear references, rather than relying mainly on transition words.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “working week,” “workers,” “financial problems,” and “salary,” so your main subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms make the meaning unclear, such as “they lost their experiance” and “how we spend our day in work like the way we can get our pay well.” There are also spelling errors, including “belive,” “satement,” and “experiance.” These issues fit a basic, repetitive vocabulary range and sometimes strain the reader’s understanding. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing working hours, productivity, income, and work-life balance, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes mostly simple sentence patterns, with an attempt at a subordinate clause in “because people should work longer they can expect a long weekend.” However, the relationship between the clauses is not grammatically clear, and several sentences have errors in structure or agreement. For example, “people may get a day salary” needs a clearer grammatical construction, while “a financial problems” has an article–plural mismatch. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in lowercase “i” and the full stop before “because” in the conclusion. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled clauses using “because,” “if,” and “although.”
