Student answer (Band 5.5)

While some indivituals thinks that weekend should be extended i think a balance working environment should be maintained where everyone can enjoy their own life without hindering working efficiency.

Many people wants shorter working days cause they want to have more time to themselve and spend it with their family or on themselves. While primarily it seems a good idea but decreasing working days from week will force company to make their employe increasring working hours in a day. As they need to fullfil thier targets with minimizing costs. If they try to hire more employes the cost will be increased and daily life of general public would be more expensive due to soar of production costs in daily needs.

On the other hand people need their time for themselves too to enjoy their life. Working robotic can get them anywhere else. With considering these an appropriate work schedule should be made. We can create a yearly working days routine instead of week where there would be mentioned after how much frequently employe can have off day on their own choice and how many days. It will not only solve the mainpower problem but also create an opportunity for the working person to utilize his holidays more efficiently. In this way both problem chould be solved.

In conclusion, i think only shortening the working week cannot solve all problems . We should consider about other consiquences too and create an structured working atmosphere. It will increase the quality lives of general people as they will work more healthy and enjoy their lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a relevant position: rather than simply shortening the week, you favour a balanced work arrangement that protects both productivity and personal time. The discussion of employers’ costs and workers’ need for time off gives the response a clear connection to the question. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening argues for balance, while the proposed yearly schedule shifts attention away from whether the working week itself should be shorter. The suggestion that employees choose their own days off is also not explained in enough detail, and the claims about higher costs and public prices need a specific example or clearer reasoning. Develop the advantages and disadvantages more fully, then state directly whether you agree or disagree with a shorter week.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The contrast between employers’ concerns and workers’ personal needs helps organise the discussion, and phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” signal the stages of the argument. However, progression is sometimes difficult to follow because the proposed yearly schedule appears without a clear link to the earlier discussion of shorter weeks. Some connections are also mechanical or unclear, as in “With considering these” and “In this way both problem chould be solved.” Make each paragraph develop one main point, use clearer transitions to show cause and contrast, and explain how the alternative schedule answers the exact question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “working efficiency,” “production costs,” “work schedule” and “utilize,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts to express more complex concepts, such as balancing employees’ personal lives with company targets. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations and spelling errors make parts of the response harder to understand: “working robotic,” “mainpower problem,” “soar of production costs” and “quality lives” are examples. These are lexical issues rather than grammar problems. Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling carefully; for instance, explain the effect on “staffing needs” rather than using “mainpower.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If they try to hire more employes the cost will be increased” and a contrast introduced by “While.” This shows some willingness to vary sentence forms. However, errors are frequent, and complex attempts are often faulty, which sometimes makes relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “some indivituals thinks,” “Many people wants,” and “decreasing working days from week,” where agreement and sentence construction are inaccurate. Articles and plurals are also often missing or incorrect, as in “an structured working atmosphere” and “both problem.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms, and punctuate longer sentences carefully. Building accurate shorter sentences before combining them will improve clarity.
