Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, everyone's deep wish is to have a shorter working week and workers should have a longer weekend. This picture has two side I explain both and I will give my own opinion as well.

In present era, everyone become too busy and much engaged in work that they becomes robots instead of human and behind it there are many reasons some people aim is just to become rich and for this they work continuously but some other people point of view is too work hard for better future and for family support for example like international students. As they come and along with study they do part time job and they also do a fulll time job during their semester break as their long term goal is to earn to offered their expenses and save as well .So,these are the few reason why some people work continously.

On one hand ,it is benefical for workers to have a working week shorter than 5 or 6 working days and should have a longer weekend .As worker if work with devotion during working days then it is not bad to have a longer weekend as they spend time with family due to longer duration otherwise they just have a single holiday which is sunday in which they have to rest ,spend time with family but their weekend is spend on doing pending work and home essentials because usually there is only one holiday and in some works saturday is also off.

On the other hand,it has a disadvantage that if there is less working days than weekend a sense of relaxation take place in this situation because due to mostly off days laziness that taking things light and pending work like habit rise in their nature so it is fascinating for workers but company face loss .

In conclusion,my prespective is that there is a balanced week schedule where saturday and sunday are off as the worker do rest and pending work and come fresh back and those working days shoud not be long working hours .So a well manner timtable should be arranged.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the topic by discussing benefits and drawbacks of a shorter working week, and your conclusion gives a preference for Saturday and Sunday as days off. However, the task asks whether you agree or disagree, while the opening says you will explain “both” and give an opinion, leaving your position unclear until the conclusion. The benefits—more time with family and rest—are relevant, but they are not developed with a specific example or explanation of how a longer weekend improves workers’ lives. The concern that companies may face losses is also asserted rather than supported. State your position clearly in the introduction and develop each main reason with a concrete example or fuller explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, separate paragraphs for reasons and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the second paragraph moves from people wanting wealth to international students without clearly connecting these examples to the question of weekend length. Linking phrases such as “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal contrast, but some transitions are mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, the claim that more days off lead to laziness and company losses needs an explicit explanation. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, then explain and illustrate it before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “working week,” “longer weekend,” “devotion,” and “relaxation,” and you attempt to express ideas about family time and workplace effects. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “a sense of relaxation take place” and “a well manner timtable.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “prespective,” “benefical,” and “continously,” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than translating phrases directly. Building a small set of accurate expressions for work schedules, productivity, rest, and family life would help you communicate your points more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “as,” but complex sentences are often difficult to control. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in examples such as “everyone become” and “they becomes,” while “a sense of relaxation take place” also has an agreement problem. Articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation are inconsistent; for instance, the opening joins several ideas without clear sentence separation. These recurring errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, then combine related ideas using one subordinate clause at a time.
