Student answer (Band 6.5)

There is an argue that there should be a less working days in a week and a longer weekend for workers. I firmly believe that there should be a balance between the working days and rest days and I agree with the given statement.

People who tends to work for longer period of time than the break days should exhauste soon and not able to fully concenterate in their tasks. Normally eight hours of shift schedule is working in most of the companies, however some of them ask their employees to do an extra time shift to finish their assigned tasks before the deadlines. In response to this employees often get overwhelm and work on weekends at their home. For instance, Corporate workers works 6 days a week with extra hours shift which makes them feel tired and drained.

I firmly agree on this stance that workers should have longer weekend and shorter working week so that they unwind the overload of work stress and feel fresh to stay focus in their working hours. Like, If a person get two or three days off after three to four working days they can go for a holiday to somewhere with their families or just by themselves. They can also just stay in their homes and spend quality time with their families, this will de-stress the workload pressure and it will significantly contribute to their physical and mental health in a positive way.For example, teachers who have an addition day off may use it to take rest and spend time with their families. Consequently, they may return to work feeling more refreshed and motivated.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that employees should have a longer weekend and a shorter working week so that their work life and personal life will stay balance. Moreover this will be a contributing factor to their good mental and physical health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction through to the conclusion: you agree that workers should have a shorter week and longer weekend. You address the task with relevant reasons, especially the effects of long hours on concentration, stress, and health, and you support these with examples involving corporate workers and teachers. This meets the descriptor for a response that addresses all parts and extends its ideas. However, some support remains general: the corporate-worker example repeats the point about fatigue, while the teacher example does not explain how an additional day off would affect work quality. Develop one example more specifically, such as explaining how rest improves productivity or reduces errors, to make the argument more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, with a logical movement from the problems caused by long hours to the benefits of more rest. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Consequently,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader, and your position remains easy to follow. This shows coherent organisation and some effective progression. However, cohesion is not always smooth: “I firmly agree” repeats the position already stated, and several sentences begin with “They” or “This,” whose references can be broad. The second body paragraph also combines several benefits without clearly separating them. Use more precise references and organise each paragraph around one main reason to make the progression more controlled.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “assigned tasks,” “deadlines,” “overload of work stress,” “quality time,” and “physical and mental health.” These choices communicate your main ideas, and attempts such as “de-stress” and “motivated” show some willingness to use less basic language. However, several word choices, collocations, and word forms are inaccurate or unnatural, including “exhauste,” “concenterate,” “get overwhelm,” and “extra time shift.” Such errors do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Focus on learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and forms; for example, use “become exhausted,” “concentrate,” “feel overwhelmed,” and “work overtime.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “so that they unwind the overload of work stress” and a relative clause in “teachers who have an addition day off.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, and the response includes some longer sentences that connect reasons and results. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur: “People who tends” should be “People who tend,” “a person get” should be “a person gets,” and “their work life and personal life will stay balance” needs a different grammatical form. Some sentences also run together, as in the passage beginning “They can also just stay…”. Review subject–verb agreement and clause boundaries, then proofread for complete, correctly punctuated sentences.
