Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have different views about the concept, that working weeks should be longer or shorter.Everyone like weekend as it provides them time to relax and deal with chores. But I believe weekend should not be that long so that we have a shorter working week.
Many people argue that, having a longer weekend can effect their productivity. People can become more lazy. In most countries, there is a normal weekend of 2 days with 5 working days. If the working week get even shorter, people are less likely to enjoy work anymore. Therefore, I believe the current balance is upright. As everyone loves spending their time liesurely but work is also important. If working weeks got shorter people are less likely to enjoy work.
There are many offices working during weekdays. Such as banks, hospitals, and corporate sector. Normal functioning of all these coorporations is very important for people everyday activities. If week days got shorter it can directly impact buisness and people lifestyle. For example Hospitals even stay opened during the public holidays. As we dont know when there could be a patient. Likewise people have different types of work from bank, offices, embassy, shops. Shortening the weekdays can disrupt the system.
In conclusion, working days should not be shorter as they can directly impact the flow of work. If weekends got longer people are less likely to get motivated to get back to work. Moreover, many significant buisness are functioning during weekdays. If their function got disrupted people are likely to suffer.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is identifiable: you disagree with a shorter working week, and the conclusion restates this view. You also give relevant reasons, including possible effects on productivity and the need for services such as hospitals and banks to operate. However, the response only partly develops the argument. The claim that shorter weeks make people “less likely to enjoy work” is repeated but not clearly explained, and the productivity point is asserted rather than supported with a specific example. The discussion of essential services is more concrete, but it does not fully show why a shorter week would necessarily disrupt them, since staffing arrangements could be adjusted. Develop each reason with clearer explanation or evidence and maintain a consistent, precise position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs broadly group related points: productivity is discussed first, followed by the operation of services. Linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some connections feel mechanical. The first body paragraph repeats the idea that people may not enjoy work, while “As everyone loves spending their time liesurely but work is also important” does not clearly connect to the preceding point. The list of workplaces in the second body paragraph also needs a clearer explanation of how it supports the argument. Use topic sentences and develop each point in a more deliberate sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main argument, including “productivity,” “functioning,” “public holidays,” and “disrupt the system.” These choices show an attempt to discuss work and public services rather than relying entirely on very basic language. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision. For example, “the current balance is upright” is not a natural way to describe the existing work-week arrangement, and “people lifestyle” is unclear. There are also misspellings such as “coorporations,” “buisness,” and “liesurely.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; a smaller set of precise expressions will strengthen the argument more than awkward or repeated wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If the working week get even shorter” and a reason clause beginning “As we dont know when there could be a patient.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation occur often enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “Everyone like weekend” needs agreement and an article, while “If the working week get” requires a matching verb form. Several sentences also run together without spaces after full stops, as in “shorter.Everyone” and “chores.But.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, and use punctuation to separate complete ideas. More accurate control of these patterns would make your reasoning easier to follow.
