Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argue that the job holders should get a longer weekend by providing shorter working hours. There is a valid argument on both sides. I strongly agree with this view because the workers can balance their work life and can complete the tasks in productive way.

The primary reason that i agree with this view is that employees can neutralize there work and life after getting an opportunity of working less days per week. This enables them to spend their quality time with family members because longer working hours mainly distant the job holders from their loved ones due to less family time. For example, a working parents who are generally busy in their office meetings and usually they don't have much time to share with their childrens in home. Consequently, this affects the child mental growth.

The secondary reason to support this statement is that human brain tends to act more actively when they get proper rest in weekend which make them productive in their working place too. Due to break from regular routine, people can enjoy their hobbies in free time instead of doing job related works everyday. This helps them to engage their mind in other activities also which can makes them more intellectual. For instance, a teacher who is going school for only 5 days a week and utilizing her 2 days in the activities that she adores make her more active. Afterwards, she can teach students in different ways as well due to her clear mind.

In conclusion, the shorter working weeks can balance the work life of workers which eventually leads them to be more productive in the way that they are working the office.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both benefits in the prompt’s central issue: more time for family and rest that may improve productivity. The examples of a working parent and a teacher help illustrate these points, and the explanation of how rest could support teaching adds relevant development. This fits a response that addresses the task and extends its ideas with support. To strengthen the argument further, explain more precisely how a shorter working week would produce these outcomes—for example, whether hours are reduced or compressed—and avoid broad claims such as the effect on a child’s “mental growth” without explaining the link. A more specific example or qualification would make the reasoning more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion restates the position. Signposting such as “The primary reason,” “The secondary reason,” and “For instance” makes the structure easy to follow. Within the paragraphs, you generally move from a claim to an explanation and then an example. Some linking is less smooth, however: “Consequently” introduces a result that is not fully explained, and “Afterwards” is an awkward transition from the teacher’s free-time activities to the effect on her teaching. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use references and transitions that show the exact relationship between ideas, and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your ideas, including “productive,” “quality time,” “regular routine,” and “hobbies.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several are inaccurate or unnatural and make the reader pause. For example, “neutralize there work and life” does not express the intended idea clearly; “distant the job holders from their loved ones” and “engage their mind” are also awkward collocations. “Working place” and “in the way that they are working the office” are imprecise. These choices show that your range is currently limited by control of word combinations and meaning. Build a bank of natural phrases for work-life balance and productivity, and check collocations in context before using them.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors occur across sentence forms and often make the writing less clear. Examples include “It is often argue” instead of a correctly formed passive, “a working parents” with mismatched number, and “which make them productive” where the verb does not agree with its subject. In “a teacher … utilizing her 2 days … make her more active,” the subject and verb relationship is also faulty. Articles, plurals, and sentence construction need more consistent control. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, then review articles and singular/plural forms. More accurate complex sentences would improve clarity.
