Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people argue that the working week should be shorter and employees should have a longer weekend. i strongly disagree with this statement because if employees have a longer weekend then how the work is possible to be completed within time. The company need more employees to complete the task and its costly. Also if the working week is shorter by reduce office timings or days then how things work smoothly.

On the other hand, Some people think the employees should have a longer weekend because they want more time to take rest from entire working week. They think is longer weekends implement then the work capabilities and capacity will increase.

On the other hand, some people believe that the working weeks should be shorter because they think if they have shorter weekend they spend time to feel relax and more focus.

In my point of view, this is not right because one to two weekend holidays is enough for everyone and i think if there are longer weekend it cause to company face a loss in form of managing things for example A company have order and need employees who work for this company and complete the requried order by working 6 days in a week and if company give 2 days holiday in every week then how company manage the order how it complete this order. So, I think if we also see this as employees point it is okay but the best solution is no more than 2 days holidays in a week.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is stated clearly at the start—“I strongly disagree”—and you give a relevant concern about deadlines, staffing costs and companies managing orders. However, the response only partially develops the task: the reasons for a shorter week are mentioned, but not explained in enough detail, and the argument against it relies mainly on one repeated example about completing company orders. The sentence about employees gaining “more time to take rest” also presents the opposing view without showing how you weigh it against your position. To strengthen the response, explain the likely effects of a shorter week on productivity or workers’ wellbeing, then support your disagreement with a specific, developed example and maintain a clear distinction between your view and the opposing argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has paragraph breaks and uses basic linking expressions such as “On the other hand” and “In my point of view,” so the reader can identify a general movement from the issue to your opinion. However, progression is unclear because “On the other hand” introduces two consecutive paragraphs, including one that appears to repeat the same point about shorter weeks. The relationship between these ideas and your own position is not consistently signposted. The final paragraph also combines your conclusion with a long example, making the main point harder to follow. Organise the essay into a clear introduction, one paragraph presenting and evaluating the opposing view, one developing your reasons, and a concise conclusion; use linking phrases only when their logical relationship is accurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main issue, including “employees,” “working week,” “longer weekend,” “complete the task” and “managing things.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “how things work smoothly” and “work capabilities and capacity will increase.” Some word choices and forms make the intended meaning less natural, including “take rest,” “feel relax” and “requried order.” Aim for more precise language about productivity, staffing and workload, and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe whether a shorter week could affect “meeting deadlines” or “operational costs,” rather than repeating general references to completing work.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express reasons and conditions using clauses such as “because if employees have a longer weekend” and “if company give 2 days holiday,” but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some points difficult to read. Examples include “how the work is possible to be completed,” “The company need more employees,” and “if there are longer weekend it cause to company face a loss.” There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation, including lowercase “i” and “Some” after a comma. Practise building shorter, accurate sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, and use a full stop when a sentence contains several separate ideas.
