Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's society, the running week should be small and employers should have a longer weekend.

From my perspective, i partially agree with this statement and i elaborate that the company provide short working period and expand the weekend for employees and employers is to maintain their work life balance whereas the company set a rule to maintain the decorum of work for both of them.

One major reason is that the work life balance of the workers should be disturb due to longer working hours. the younger people should not get proper weekends to do some other activities and taking the lot of pressure of work on holidays also. the company should ensure that the employer and employee is to maintain it so that they spent their quality time with their friends and family. Even though they do some extra curriculum activity is to manage their health and mental stability.

In contrast, the company should set a rule for workers should half their work from office and home is to manage their pressure. Also, they have focus on their work and family problems to handle it properly. For Example, nowadays, the IT companys understand the feelings of the employee to do their other works as a result they set a rule to do the work from home for 3 days and rest 3 days come to office. So,they maintain their work life balance.

In comclusion, the emloyer and employee make sure that the work of the company to be done on time and maintain the decorum to follow the rules and regulations of the company. the company make sure about the balance of the life of both of them to be maintain.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a position—“I partially agree”—and discuss work–life balance, family time, health, and flexible working, so the response is relevant to the topic. However, the position is not fully explained: the task asks whether the working week should be shorter and the weekend longer, but much of the essay shifts to working from home and dividing days between home and the office. The example about IT companies therefore supports flexibility more than a shorter working week. Several points, such as pressure on workers and the benefits of extra activities, are mentioned but not developed with clear reasoning or specific evidence. Explain what change you support, why it would help, and any limits or drawbacks to make your argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, and it uses signposts such as “One major reason,” “In contrast,” and “In conclusion.” These features give the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression between ideas is not always clear: the paragraph beginning “In contrast” does not present a clear opposing view and instead introduces working from home, which is not the same as shortening the week. Some sentences also connect ideas awkwardly, and references such as “both of them” are unclear. Plan each paragraph around one main point, use linking expressions only when their meaning fits the relationship, and make pronoun references explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “work life balance,” “working hours,” “mental stability,” and “quality time.” This shows an attempt to discuss employment and wellbeing. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the running week should be small” is not a natural way to describe a shorter working week, and “decorum of work” does not clearly express workplace rules or standards. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “comclusion,” “emloyer,” and “companys.” Learn common collocations for work and employment, and proofread spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “whereas,” “so that,” and “even though.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction can make the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “the company provide” needs subject–verb agreement, while “the work life balance … should be disturb” has an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “the company should set a rule for workers should half their work” also combines clauses without a clear grammatical structure. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings and missing spaces after commas. Practise building accurate sentences before adding subordinate clauses.
