Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are always an argument that whether working days should be less or not. I completly agree with the less working days and longer weekends because it will increase the productivity of an employee, and it leads to generate higher profits for an organisation.

From the employee's side, longer weekend help them to relax from the daily hactic routin. They get a enough time to spent with their family and friends. As a result, they feel more joy and happiness, this leads to increase in motivation and energy in employees to work again from the monday. Therefore, longer weekends can help employees to recover from the working environment and bring fresh energy at company, and this ultimately result into rise in productivity. For example, employees in middle-east countries found themselves less productive because of the less or no weekend option.

From the employer's side, a highly productive person can work more in less time than a lower productive person. The longer working week also convert into frustration as well, because of the doing same thing for the whole week, and even not to spend a quality time with a family. As a result, conflict can be arise at workplace or home at anytime. This all cost to badly the company, because of such a negative environment employees are unable to complete their work. Therefore, the longer weekends are also helpful for the company as well. For example, in the US, employee turnover ratio is the highest among the world because of too much amount of workload levid on the employees. This leads them to switch the company. As a result, the company have to higher a employee again that cost a lot.

In conclusion, longer weekends help employee and companies. Empoyees can enjoy their personal life, and it eventually become a reason for increasing in productivity, which is welecomed by companies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree with shorter working weeks because they can improve employee productivity and benefit organisations. Both sides of this argument are addressed, and the body paragraphs give relevant explanations, such as how rest may improve motivation and how excessive workload can contribute to staff turnover. The examples about Middle Eastern countries and the United States help illustrate your points, although they are broad and would be more convincing with specific details or careful qualification. The discussion of workplace conflict and turnover is relevant, but the causal links are asserted rather than fully demonstrated. To strengthen the response further, develop each example and explain more precisely how a longer weekend produces the stated business outcomes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs consider employee and employer benefits, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking phrases such as “As a result,” “Therefore,” and “For example” make relationships between claims visible. This shows a sound foundation, but the repeated use of these transitions can make the argument feel mechanical. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the move from workplace frustration to conflict “at workplace or home,” and then to the company’s costs. Use more varied, precise links and make the cause-and-effect steps explicit. Clearer sentence boundaries and references would also help the reader follow the argument smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “productivity,” “motivation,” “workload,” “employee turnover,” and “organisation,” so the main ideas are understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “longer weekends,” “company,” and “employees,” while several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate. Examples include “daily hactic routin,” “bring fresh energy at company,” “cost to badly the company,” and “workload levid on the employees.” Spelling errors such as “completly” and “Empoyees” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural workplace collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because,” “as a result,” and “which.” This allows you to express a developed argument, but errors occur frequently in sentence construction and often make the reader pause. For example, “There are always an argument that whether…” has problems with agreement and clause structure; “longer weekend help them” and “the company have to higher a employee again” show agreement and article errors. Verb forms are also unreliable in “a highly productive person can work” followed by “the longer working week also convert,” and “conflict can be arise.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
