Student answer (Band 5.5)

I believe the the working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer week. This will be benifit both the workers and the companies.

In these times, worker work around 45 hours per week from monday to friday and take rest only on saturday and sunday. I strongly believe that working week should be shorter. Shorter working hours will provide workers a longer rest period. They will be able to spend more time with there loved one and family. And they will have more time to spend on there personal and family tasks like repairin something or buying something. All this will improve there mental health and there capabilities to work effieciently and make them more productive. Longer working weeks exhaust the workers, drain all there energy for the weekends, cause mental fatigue. Also, due to longer working weeks, they are not able to spend quality time with there families and kids which causes problems in family. But if they have more time to spend with family, more time to rest there mental exhausting will be reduce. There are many instances and examples that working longer weeks for longer period of time have caused anxiety and reduce happiness index of workers and they become lifeless and robotic.

Shorter working hours also benefits the companies, when then workers are fit and happy, they will be more productive, they will be more efficient and they will produce more result for the companies which will improve companies revenue and profits. Therefore, i think woorking hours should be shorter and workers should have more longer weekend.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you support a shorter working week, and you address benefits for both workers and companies. Relevant reasons include more time with family, improved mental health, and potentially greater productivity. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that longer weeks make workers “lifeless and robotic” would be stronger with a specific example or clearer explanation. The company-focused paragraph is also brief and largely repeats the productivity point, so the two sides of your argument are not developed equally. To strengthen the response, explain how a shorter week could improve output and support your claims with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has an overall coherent arrangement: it introduces your view, develops effects on workers, then considers companies before concluding. This gives the reader a clear general direction. Within the main paragraph, however, several ideas are crowded together, and the repeated references to family time, rest, and mental health make progression less distinct. Connectors such as “Also,” “But,” and “Therefore” help signal relationships, though some transitions feel mechanical or do not clearly show how one point follows from another. The company paragraph would benefit from a fuller explanation and a clearer link to the worker benefits. Use separate, focused paragraphs and make each one develop a distinct reason.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “mental health,” “mental fatigue,” “productive,” “efficient,” and “revenue and profits.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some more specific expressions. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word combinations are noticeable, such as “benifit,” “effieciently,” “reduce happiness index,” and “more longer weekend.” “Repairin something” and “produce more result” also lack natural phrasing. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but they limit precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations, such as “spend quality time,” “increase productivity,” and “a longer weekend.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use mostly straightforward sentence patterns, with some attempts to link ideas through clauses, as in “when then workers are fit and happy, they will be more productive.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but grammatical errors occur in several places. Examples include “worker work” instead of a correctly formed subject and verb, “they are not able to spend” following a past-tense context, and “their mental exhausting will be reduce,” where the verb form and sentence structure are faulty. There are also errors with articles and sentence boundaries, such as beginning “And they will have” as a separate sentence. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and complete sentence construction while retaining some varied structures.
