Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that the working people should have shorter weekdays and their weekends should be longer. I partly agree with this view because I believe people should maintain a balanced life as longer weekends may have some both benefits and drawbacks.
Nowadays, workloads are increased day by day because of the advances of technology. As companies try to make pace with these advances, workers have to work longer hours in the weekdays. Many people have to work six days per week. As they pass most of the time in their workplace, they do not get enough time to relax and spend time with their family which makes them become stressed. As a result, they can not properly concentrate on their works and fail to complete their task before the deadline. To overcome the workers from this situation, working week should be shorter.
Longer weekends are really helpful for working people. The most obvious advantage is that it helps people to relax. When people get more off-days, they can spend this time with their families or friends. They can also use this time to develop their interpersonal skills by learning new skills that might be helpful in their work. However, longer weekends might people make less interested in their work. If people spend more time without working, they will less likely to continue their stressful work which will also reduce their productivity.
In my opinion, working weeks should be shorter to reduce the stress of workers so they should provide enough weekends to relax. However, if weekends become more longer, it will reduce worker's productivity. It is better that workers should have a chance to lead a balanced life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partly agree, supporting shorter working weeks to reduce stress while recognising a possible productivity drawback. You address the main aspects of the prompt and give relevant reasons, including time for family, relaxation and learning new skills. The explanation that tired workers may struggle to concentrate is useful, but the claim that longer weekends make people less interested in work is asserted rather than explained or supported with an example. Your conclusion also repeats the balanced-life position without resolving how a shorter week could be introduced or how productivity could be protected. Develop the less-supported side with a concrete example and clarify the practical basis for your partial agreement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your position, the body paragraphs present reasons and drawbacks, and the conclusion returns to your view. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “As a result,” “However,” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the argument. This already shows some flexibility in organising the discussion. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “To overcome the workers from this situation” does not clearly link the proposed solution to the preceding explanation, and the final paragraph repeats points rather than synthesising them. Use clearer references and make each paragraph’s central claim explicit, then connect supporting details directly to it.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including relevant terms such as “workloads,” “advances of technology,” “interpersonal skills,” “deadline,” and “productivity.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word-choice and collocation errors reduce naturalness: “make pace with” should be “keep pace with,” “off-days” is less suitable than “days off,” and “reduce the stress of workers” is awkward. There is also repetition of “longer weekends” and “work.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations and vary repeated terms where appropriate. The meaning remains understandable, but more accurate collocations would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “because I believe…” and “which makes them become stressed,” as well as conditional structures beginning “If people spend more time…”. Most ideas remain understandable despite some grammatical errors. Examples include “work longer hours in the weekdays,” “they will less likely to continue,” and “it will reduce worker’s productivity”; these involve article, preposition, verb-form or possessive control. The sentence “However, longer weekends might people make less interested in their work” also has an incorrect word order that obscures the intended structure. Review verb patterns after modal verbs and make sure the subject and verb are arranged correctly. Greater accuracy across these varied structures would strengthen the response.
