Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate on whether there should be longer weekends or not.I believe that not only shorter weekends can provide more profits and effectiveness in an company, but also it can provide numerious benefits to workers. So,I strongly agree with this statement.
At the outset, the most plausible factor for my opinion is providing sufficient rest to the employees. If the workers are having longer weekends, they can work for 4 days in an effective manner and can get adequate rest. To illustrate that assume that the employees got proper rest and less pressure of work in the previous week, now they can work with more efficiency and complete the target of the company. Hence, It seems like both the parties are getting benefits from the shortage of the working week. The further arguement for my believe is that they can get work-life balance. The employees have only a few days to rest and spend time with their families. But if they get enough time, it would be beneficial for them as well as their families. For instance, a person is not able to travel with his family due to the office regulations of restricted holidays, but if they get longer weekends they can enjoy his family time as well as balance his office work.
Further reinforcing my view, I think that it would also be beneficial to the companies. Some business man might think that it will result in higher financial pressure on them, but instead they will ultimately get high profits, as the workers are working more efficiently and completing targets in less time. With proper restrictions and planning the goals of the organisation, one can get the proper utilization of man-power. Additionally, the more days the employees have to do a specific work or accomplishing a target, the larger amount of time they will need to complete that specific task. Thus, it is better to have shorter working weeks.
In Conclusion, I completely agree with this statement that workers should have longer weekends and shorter working weeks as employees can get work-life balance as well as adequate rest. To couple with that, business man are also getting benefits such as early target accomplishments and high rates of profits. Thus, it is a win-win situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you strongly support a shorter working week and longer weekends. You address both workers’ wellbeing and possible benefits to employers, with relevant examples such as having time to travel with family and completing targets more efficiently. These points meet the task well, but their development is uneven. The discussion of rest and work–life balance is understandable, while the claim that companies will gain “high profits” is asserted rather than supported with a specific explanation or example. The point about having more time to complete a task is also unclear and seems to conflict with your argument for a shorter week. Clarifying this reasoning and developing the business case would make the response more fully convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Ideas generally progress from employee benefits to company benefits, and examples are placed alongside the points they illustrate. You also use a range of linking expressions, including “To illustrate,” “Additionally,” and “Thus.” However, some transitions feel mechanical or do not accurately show the relationship between ideas. For example, “Further reinforcing my view” introduces a new argument, while “To couple with that” is an awkward link in the conclusion. Some references, such as “they” in the family-time example, are not always clear. Use simpler, more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s reasoning progress step by step.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “adequate rest,” “work-life balance,” “financial pressure,” and “utilization of manpower.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word-choice and collocation errors reduce naturalness, such as “more profits and effectiveness in an company,” “shortage of the working week,” and “high rates of profits.” There are also spelling errors, including “numerious,” “arguement,” and “believe” where “belief” is intended. These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and control. Focus on accurate, natural combinations such as “increase productivity” and “generate higher profits,” and proofread spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including conditional clauses (“if they get enough time”) and a concession (“Some business man might think … but instead…”). The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “not only shorter weekends … but also it can provide” has an unbalanced structure, and “a person … but if they get longer weekends they can enjoy his family time” shifts between singular and plural pronouns. There are also article, agreement, and punctuation problems, as in “in an company” and “companies.Some.” Sentence boundaries and comma spacing need careful checking. To improve, keep subjects and pronouns consistent, check articles and agreement, and revise complex sentences so their clauses connect clearly.
