Student answer (Band 5.5)
It has been observed that there is an ongong debate about working week should be shorter and workers should have have a longer weekend . I firmly agree with the given statement. My inclination is to elaborate on the given paragraph and provide relevent example.
The foremost agrument to justify my stand is that wokers should be given a longer weekend. This is because it provide opportunity to the empolyee to spend more quality time with their family and friends. for instance, if empolyees have longer weekend than they can plan a short trip to enjoy with their family in a weekly basis. Beside this , it is also true that more holidays in a week provide better chance to work in their hobby such as differnt sports activities , and they can also pursue their further study. A good example of this a police constable of our country get opportunity to play national cricket team. this is happen because he gets chance to allocate more time on his hobby.
Furthermore, the other reason to prove my point is that empolyee childeren will get more time to spend quality time with their parents. The main reason behind this if workers have holiday than they will spent his most of time with their childeren. for exmple, they can take care of their childeren that help in the wellgrooming of childeren. longer working days cause different types of diseases to the empolyees. to illustrate this, we see people who are working longer hours in a week suffer form mental stress, backpain problem, spine injury , stress issure . Therefore, workers should have a longer weekend .
In conclusion, despite the fact that longer weekend have both positive and negative aspects. i would personally support that empolyees should have longer weekend because it provide them an opportunity to spend more time with their family and i personally feel that family is more importnat than work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I firmly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including family time, opportunities for hobbies or study, and possible health effects of long working hours. The examples about taking a short trip and a police constable playing cricket help illustrate your points. However, the discussion does not fully address the proposal to shorten the working week: it focuses mainly on having a longer weekend, without explaining how fewer working days could be organised or why that change would benefit workers and employers. Some claims, particularly the health effects, are listed rather than explained, and the cricket example’s connection to a longer weekend is unclear. Develop these points with clearer reasoning and more directly relevant support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas are generally grouped by topic, and signposts such as “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the overall direction. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. For example, “The foremost argument” and “the other reason” announce points without showing how the supporting details connect, while “despite the fact that longer weekend have both positive and negative aspects” introduces a contrast that the essay has not discussed. References such as “this” in the cricket example are also unclear. Improve progression by making each paragraph’s main claim explicit, then explaining and linking each example to that claim; use transitions only when the relationship between ideas is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “quality time,” “pursue their further study,” “mental stress,” and “spine injury,” which helps communicate your main ideas. However, the range and control are limited by repeated words such as “longer weekend,” “time,” and “opportunity,” as well as noticeable spelling errors, including “ongong,” “relevent,” “empolyee,” and “childeren.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “work in their hobby” and “in a weekly basis,” and “stress issure” is unclear. These choices sometimes make the reader pause, even though the general meaning is usually recoverable. Build a more precise range of collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “pursue a hobby” and “on a weekly basis.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “This is because…” and “if workers have holiday…” to explain reasons. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries recur. For example, “it provide opportunity” needs a subject–verb agreement correction and an article, while “they will spent” uses the wrong verb form. In “The main reason behind this if workers have holiday,” the clause is incomplete, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters after full stops. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate conditional sentences and check each sentence for a complete clause, correct verb form and appropriate punctuation.
