Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that Individuals should have fewer working week and longer holidays.I firmly agree with this view as it improves productivity and boost economy. This essay will discuss on its benefits with my views on it.

To begin with,Reducing working week greatly improves productivity.People often get tired from day to activity and if they get longer weekend it would help them to refresh and relax from daily hustle creating a sense of work life balance as a result they can create better work in their workplace. For Example, In Europre due to introduction of 3 day holidays in each week people feel excited to go to work and perform their task properly in less time.In addition, Employee would be more focused to create meaningful work with proper rest and quality time.

Moreover ,Workers having longer weekend helps to boost the economy.

Due to the introduction of longer holidays , people can use their free time to travel and explore their hometown which helps to improve tourism which further helps to create new job opportunities. For instance, Thailand has greatly improve their economy due to giving longer holidays as citizens usually spend their time travelling in the weekend.Furthermore, due to increse in tourism other industries also flourishes

In conclusion,By introducing shorter worker week and longer weekend that will help in creation of better work and aids to improve the economy.I strongly agree with this view due its rewarding effects to the society as it helps individual to have quality time allowing them to have sense of belonging and peace .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I firmly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both parts of the proposal by arguing that a shorter working week can improve productivity and that longer weekends may support tourism and the economy. The examples about Europe and Thailand are relevant, and the explanation of how travel could create jobs helps support your second point. However, some claims are broad or insufficiently explained: the reference to a “3 day” holiday in Europe is unclear, and the Thailand example does not show specifically how longer weekends caused economic improvement. To strengthen the response, clarify the examples and develop the link between reduced hours, better performance, and economic benefits more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. The main ideas are generally grouped appropriately, although some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “which further helps to create new job opportunities” follows the tourism point, but the chain of cause and effect could be explained more explicitly. The opening says the essay will “discuss on its benefits,” which does not clearly preview the two arguments. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “productivity,” “work-life balance,” “tourism,” and “job opportunities,” and these choices help communicate your main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “meaningful work” and “quality time.” However, the range is uneven, with repeated general words such as “helps” and “longer,” and several inaccurate or awkward choices affect naturalness: “better work,” “daily hustle,” and “boost economy.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “Europre,” “increse,” and “improve” where “improved” is needed, also reduce precision. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for work and economic effects, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures: “if they get longer weekend it would help them” and “which helps to improve tourism.” This shows some range, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction recur. For example, “Individuals should have fewer working week” needs a plural noun, while “this view as it improves productivity and boost economy” has inconsistent verb forms and a missing article. The final sentence beginning “By introducing shorter worker week…” is also structurally incomplete. Improve accuracy by checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and revise long sentences into complete clauses with clear subjects and verbs.
