Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that working days should be shorter and employees should have more time for weekend. Although some people opposing this view , I completely agree with that workers must have more time for weekend.

One of the main reason for supporting this view is that employees have more time to spend with family. This is because of splurging more leisure time with family helps them to know about the interest and hobbies of each other and strong their bond . It lead to remove any kind of misunderstanding with them. For example, if employees have free time to spend with close ones it helps to remove any conflicts between them. Another reason for my approval is development of other skills . This is due to fact that if workers have fewer responsibilities of job they give time to their hobbies and become more creative it works as stress buster activity for them. Therefore, it improve overall position of workers.

To conclude, eventhough some people opposing this view , i strongly agree because of strengthen family bond and development of other skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you state that you “completely agree” and return to this view in the conclusion. You also give two relevant reasons—more family time and opportunities to develop other skills—and include a brief example about resolving conflicts. However, the response addresses the task only partially because both reasons are asserted rather than sufficiently explained, and the example remains general. The discussion also does not clarify how a shorter working week would create a longer weekend or why this change would be beneficial overall. In addition, the response is 182 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough development to fully support your position. Extend each main point with specific explanation and a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting reasons, and a conclusion. The ideas are generally arranged in a sensible order, and signposts such as “One of the main reason,” “Another reason,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. However, the body paragraph combines two separate reasons without clearly separating or developing them, and some links between sentences are abrupt. For example, the move from family relationships to “development of other skills” would be clearer in a new paragraph. Some referencing is also unclear, as in “it works as stress buster activity for them,” where the subject of “it” is not precise. Use distinct body paragraphs and clearer links between each claim and its explanation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “employees,” “leisure time,” “hobbies,” “creative,” and “stress buster.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both family life and personal development. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “spend more time for weekend,” “strong their bond,” and “overall position of workers.” Repetition of “time,” “workers,” and “view” also limits flexibility. Aim for more natural phrases and precise vocabulary, such as “spend more time with their families,” “strengthen family bonds,” and “well-being.” Check word forms and spelling, including “even though,” which should be written as two words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the opening and explanations beginning “This is because” and “This is due to the fact that.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. Examples include “One of the main reason” instead of a plural noun, “It lead” instead of a correctly formed verb, and “if workers have fewer responsibilities of job they give time,” which lacks clear grammatical structure and punctuation. Subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and check each sentence for a clear subject, correctly formed verb, and appropriate punctuation.
