Student answer (Band 5.5)

Working is an essential part in the wellbeing of human life. Some people think that working week should be shortened and workers should have given a long weekened, while other argue the opposite. I believe that working week should not be shortened and workers should have proper weekened.

From my perspective, there is no need to change the present weekly working plan. Today's world has a proper schedule for workers and for their wellbeings. After the several researches and experiments, working schedule has been constructed for workers. The world health organization also involved in it to make law that protects the lifecycle of the workers. Nevertheless, some companies assigning work beyond their working time limit and that should be restricted. The development of the country and the individual depends on the work they do. The government was strict in their policies that all the labours and workers should have weekly leave atleast one day. If some companies doen't obey it, it will get banned.

On the other hand, some people argue that the workind week should be shortened and workers should have given a long weekened. However, as a human we desire time for relaxation. Meanwhile, our development will be reduced, if this idea worked. Eventhough, it provides the peace of mind, it might creat lazziness among people. Hence it miticate the creativity and ability of the people.

In conclusion, i think for sustainable life cycle ongoing working week system is beneficial and it is essential for development. Further modifications in its timetable might cause decrimental effects on the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion: you oppose shortening the working week, arguing that the current system supports development. You also acknowledge the opposing view and mention relaxation, which helps address the question. However, the reasons are only partly developed. For example, the claim that a shorter week would reduce development is not explained with a specific mechanism or example, and the suggestion that it could create “lazziness” is asserted rather than supported. The discussion of existing schedules and government rules is relevant, but it does not directly establish why the current working week is preferable to a shorter one. Develop two clear reasons and illustrate each with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the main arguments, and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “On the other hand” helps readers follow the shift to the opposing view, while “In conclusion” clearly marks the ending. Overall, the ideas are arranged coherently, but some links are mechanical or unclear. “Nevertheless” introduces a point about companies exceeding work limits, though its relationship to the preceding claim about research and schedules could be made clearer. The paragraph beginning “On the other hand” also moves from the opposing view to your own concern about development without clearly distinguishing whose argument is being presented. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each explanation directly to its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “working schedule,” “weekly leave,” “policies,” and “sustainable,” so the reader can understand the general subject and your position. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. For instance, “proper weekend” does not clearly express the intended meaning, and “miticate the creativity” is not an appropriate phrase for describing a possible effect. Spelling errors such as “weekened,” “doen't,” and “lazziness” are also noticeable. Aim for precise, natural expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, explain whether you mean a standard two-day weekend, reduced productivity, or diminished creativity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if this idea worked” and a clause beginning “After the several researches and experiments.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence structure sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “Some people think that working week should be shortened,” where an article is needed, and “other argue,” where the subject and verb do not agree. “The government was strict in their policies that…” also has an unclear grammatical construction. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, and check articles, subject–verb agreement, and consistent tense before adding more complex structures.
