Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that employees should work fewer hours and be given more days off. I agree that employees should have shorter working weeks because this help reduce stress. However, I do not think that this is suitable for essential services such as healthcare.
To begin with, employees who work fewer hours tend to experience less stress and be more productive. This is because they feel refreshed after a longer weekend and mentally prepared for challenges. For instance, a trial of a four-day week was conducted in the UK, and many companies reported the positive results. Consequently, employees became more focused and motivated. Their productivity level is also increase due to feeling of refreshment. In addition, having more free time allows pople to spent some quality time with their familywhich improves their relationships.
However, the shorter working week is not suitable for every job, such as heathcare and police. Hospitals need 24 hour services for the patients and emergencies like road accident can occur any time. This is because the doctors must be available all time for patients' safety. Another police job is also restricted for the long weekend due to their critical duties. Sometimes, they need to caught crminals or robbers immediately no matters time or day. So that they don't take the long weekend .
In conclusion, member of workforce should have shorter working weeks and longer weekend because this help them to unwind themselves to busy routine and chance to relieve the stress. But, i firmly believe that the longer weekend is not approriate for critical job or life saving jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support shorter working weeks because they may reduce stress, while recognising that essential services need continuous cover. You address both sides of this qualification and give relevant support, including the UK four-day-week trial and the need for doctors and police to respond to emergencies. The explanation of improved focus and family relationships is also relevant. Some points, however, are asserted rather than fully developed: the trial is mentioned without explaining what its results showed, and the discussion of essential services does not consider how shift patterns could maintain coverage while giving individual workers longer weekends. Developing these points and making the qualification more precise would make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting reasons and a qualification, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. The overall progression is clear, but some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “So that they don't take the long weekend” does not clearly explain the relationship between police duties and the proposed shorter week, and “Another police job” is an awkward transition. The conclusion also repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. Use clearer references and connect each example explicitly to your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “productive,” “refreshed,” “emergencies,” “critical duties,” and “relieve the stress.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are noticeably inconsistent. Examples include “Their productivity level is also increase,” “spent some quality time,” “heathcare,” and “chance to relieve the stress.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “unwind themselves to busy routine” and “Another police job.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less precise, even though the overall argument remains understandable. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms carefully, especially when revising the final draft.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and a relative clause in “free time … which improves their relationships.” This shows some range, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries recur. For example, “this help reduce stress” needs subject–verb agreement, while “Their productivity level is also increase” has an incorrect verb construction. “Employees … to spent” also uses the wrong verb form, and the opening runs “stress. However” together without a space. These errors reduce accuracy across the response. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, and use punctuation to separate complete sentences.
