Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many community members beleive that working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. I strongly concur with this opinion because it plays an insurmountable role in improve worker's mental and physical health and also very crucial for their better work productivity.

To begin with, shorter working week can help employees to menage work-life balance. When people spend all the time on work they did not have enough time for families and personal activities. As a result, they become tired of their same routine and also feel depressed and exaust. For instance, if there is employee work five or six days a week may struggle to spend quality time with their children and if they have a longer weekend they can relax and spend eniugh time with familya and menage their personal responsibilities.

Moreover, provinding some additional days off to employees helps a lot to take some rest and make themselves ready for further working days. Consequently, when all the emplyees having more relaxed and stress less mind they can complete their task with more interest and sincerety. In addition, longer weekends are also very essential for workers physical

health as in days off they can go to gym and some excersise whcih is very favourable for their physical strength.

In conclusion, i strongly believe that working week should be shorter and workers should have a longer weekend. This would not only beneficial for their health also very favourable for their better work productivity and their peace.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you strongly support a shorter working week. You give relevant reasons, including improved work–life balance, time with family, rest, and better productivity, and the example about parents spending time with their children helps illustrate one point. However, the productivity and physical-health claims are only briefly explained, so the ideas are not developed evenly. The response also contains 227 words, which is 23 words below the 250-word minimum; the 24 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each reason with a fuller explanation or a specific example, and meet the required length to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As a result” introduces tiredness and depression, but the connection to the preceding point could be expressed more precisely; the long example beginning “For instance, if there is employee…” is also difficult to follow. The second body paragraph moves from rest to productivity and then physical health without fully connecting these points. Use clearer sentence boundaries and refer back explicitly to the main idea of each paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “work-life balance,” “quality time,” “personal responsibilities,” “productivity,” and “physical health.” These choices help communicate your main arguments. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, as in “beleive,” “menage,” “exaust,” and “sincerety.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “insurmountable role” and “stress less mind.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations rather than choosing a more elaborate word that does not fit the meaning. Proofreading for spelling and checking common word partnerships would make your vocabulary more reliable and clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example and clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “if.” This gives the response some structural variety, but control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction and verb forms can make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “When people spend all the time on work they did not have enough time” shifts tense, while “if there is employee work five or six days a week” does not form a correct conditional clause. The conclusion also needs a complete structure: “This would not only beneficial” is missing a verb. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them, paying particular attention to articles, agreement, and consistent tense.
