Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argued that there should be shorter work weeks and weekends should be longer. I strongly agree with the statement because long breaks from work can enhance productivity and creativity.
To commence with, reduce amount of time for working is highly beneficial for employees. It is important for workers to concentrate and devote themselves to their work without feeling burnout. Short duration of work can reduce stress and improve overall well-being of workers. In other words, working for fewer hours can have a positive impact on their physical and mental health. For example, if a worker feels fresh and calms every day, then only he can give full devotion and dedication to his work, which in turn would bring positive outcomes for his particular organization. Similarly, companies could be benefited on large scale if every person decides to work with full commitment after a long weekend, hence it brings positive attributes towards economic development.
Moreover, long weekends are significantly helpful for dedicated employees. People can spend some quality time with their families; they can have time for their personal interests. In the same manner, free time can be utilized for shopping, entertainment and dining out. For instance, if I am a working lady, and want to visit my distant family members, I would need at least 3 days off from my job. On contrary, not every institute is able to enjoy such timetable such as hospitals, transports, and manufacturing departments. They should organize flexible shifts for their workers so they can have a balanced routine.
In summary, I strongly agree with increased weekends and decreased employment time so that people can find balance between personal and professional life. However, busy departments should also manage their schedule in an efficient way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion, and you give relevant reasons for agreeing: shorter working time may reduce stress and support well-being, while longer weekends allow family visits and personal activities. The examples about visiting distant relatives and arranging shifts in hospitals and manufacturing also show awareness of practical implications. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the productivity argument is repeated in several forms without explaining how shorter hours would maintain output, and the personal example is hypothetical rather than developed. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms behind your claims and address more directly how a shorter working week could be organised across different sectors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “In summary” help readers follow the progression. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. “To commence with” and “In the same manner” are used where simpler transitions would sound more natural, while “hence it brings positive attributes” does not clearly show how the preceding idea leads to economic development. The first body paragraph also moves from workers’ health to company benefits without fully explaining the link. Use fewer formulaic connectors and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting example explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “productivity,” “overall well-being,” “personal interests,” and “flexible shifts.” These choices communicate your main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “positive attributes towards economic development,” “full devotion and dedication,” and “increased weekends.” There is also repetition of “positive” and “work” where more precise alternatives could improve fluency. Aim for natural collocations and exact wording: for example, describe how a policy may “support economic growth” rather than bring “positive attributes” to it. This would make your argument sound more controlled without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if a worker feels…” and a relative clause in “so they can have a balanced routine.” Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “reduce amount of time for working” needs an article and a more suitable structure, while “if a worker feels fresh and calms” has an incorrect verb form. “On contrary” also needs an article, and “not every institute is able to enjoy such timetable” has an awkwardly formed clause. Review articles, verb forms, and sentence construction, and check that longer sentences remain grammatically complete. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
