Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that the weekend should be longer so the workers could work less than the usual number of days per week. I agree with this view because the employees need to spend more time with their families and they will become more productive this way.
Firstly, the workers spend unsufficient time with their families. They come back to their homes tired; they sleep and they repeat the same routine the next day. At the usual two days of the weekend, they prefer to stay at home in their bedrooms taking a rest after a long week of work. Those with kids, they don't find a suitable time to take them to the parc for example to play or in a trip until the long summer holidays. Some recent researchs proved a correlation between the actual number of work days and the bad relation of workers with their families.
Secondly, the employees need an enough time (another day at least) to recuperate their energy. This measure will affect directly their productivity and the quality of their work. Additionally, the worker who come back exausted after just two days of rest cannot afford the same performance.
In conclusion, adding another day for the weekend should be taken in consideration

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree with a longer weekend, and you give two relevant reasons—more family time and improved productivity. However, the response addresses the task only partially because both reasons are asserted more than developed. For example, the point about parents having little time to take children out is relevant, but the claim about research linking workdays to poor family relationships is not explained or supported with a specific example. The productivity paragraph also repeats the idea that workers need rest without showing in detail how an extra day would improve work. The conclusion is very brief. The response is also 41 words below the required minimum, leaving limited space to develop and support your ideas. Extend each main point with explanation or a concrete example, and conclude by restating your position clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and a conclusion follows. The signposts “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and some links between ideas are unclear. In the first body paragraph, the sequence from workers’ tiredness to staying in their bedrooms and then to parents’ difficulty taking children out could be connected more explicitly. The sentence beginning “Those with kids” also lacks a clear grammatical link to the preceding sentence. The final conclusion is so short that it does not effectively draw the two arguments together. Use clearer transitions between examples and explanations, and develop the ending to summarise how both reasons support your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “productive,” “performance,” “routine,” and “correlation.” However, the range is limited, and noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors sometimes make the wording awkward or less clear. Examples include “unsufficient,” “parc,” “researchs,” “exausted,” and “an enough time.” Phrases such as “bad relation of workers with their families” and “affect directly their productivity” are understandable but not natural collocations. Aim to use more precise expressions for work-life balance and recovery, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Replacing repeated references to “time” and “work” with suitable alternatives would also make the argument more flexible and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, and articles occur often enough to affect clarity. For example, “Those with kids, they don't find” uses an unclear, duplicated subject; “the worker who come back” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “the employees need an enough time” has an article and determiner problem. The sentence “Additionally, the worker who come back exausted after just two days of rest cannot afford the same performance” is also difficult to interpret because its grammatical construction does not express the intended comparison clearly. Practise building accurate complex sentences with relative clauses and check agreement and article use before submitting.
