Student answer (Band 5.5)

In my opinion employees working days should be less rather than working 5 days a week. They should have more days off so they can relax and spend more of their time with the families. After working the whole week, they should atleast get 3 days off for relaxation or if they want to travel anywhere far away, they can easily go and enjoy.

I support the idea of longer weekend for the workers. They will feel less stressed. More rest can improve the productivity of the workers and in the working days they can easily work will all the passion and with relax mind. Having more rest on the weekends, the more focus they can be on their jobs.

On the other hand, having short working days can lead to money loss for the companies, the work may not be completed on time and the services of the company might get slow and hence the people wont prefer such companies who cannot complete the work in time and delays the work. Working shorter can also lead to less earning for the employees. They can earn more if they work 5 days a week rather than working 4 days a week.

Hence there are some advantages of working less days and some of the disadvantages as we have discussed in the paragraph according to my own knowledge and experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall preference for a longer weekend, and relevant benefits include reduced stress, improved productivity, and more time for family or travel. You also acknowledge a counterargument about company output and employees’ earnings, so the response addresses both sides of the issue. However, the discussion is only partial: the benefits are asserted rather than explained with a specific example, and the effects on companies and workers are not explored in much detail. The final sentence is also vague and does not reinforce your position clearly. The response is 21 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your reasons. Extend the main points with explanation or a relevant example, and end with a direct statement of your view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally coherent arrangement: it introduces your preference, gives supporting reasons, considers disadvantages, and ends with a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “On the other hand” make the change in direction clear. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive or unclear. For example, the second paragraph repeats the idea of rest improving work focus in “More rest can improve the productivity” and “Having more rest… the more focus they can be.” The conclusion’s reference to “the paragraph” is also imprecise, and “Hence” does not lead to a firm summary of your position. Use clearer links between each reason and its explanation, and avoid repeating the same point in different wording.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “productivity,” “stressed,” “services,” and “delays.” There are also attempts to express consequences, such as companies experiencing “money loss.” However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations sound unnatural, which reduces precision. For instance, “working days should be less” and “work will all the passion” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “shorter working week” and “work with greater motivation” would be clearer. “Relax mind” and “money loss” are also awkward collocations. Some spelling and informal forms, such as “wont” and “atleast,” need attention. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing working conditions, productivity, and business costs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some attempts at longer structures, including a conditional idea in “if they want to travel anywhere far away” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” The main message is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “employees working days should be less,” where the sentence structure is incomplete or awkward, and “the more focus they can be,” which does not form a correct comparison. In “the people wont prefer such companies who cannot complete the work,” the relative clause is not well formed. There are also issues with articles, agreement, and punctuation, such as “longer weekend” and the run-on construction beginning “the work may not be completed.” Practise accurate clause construction and check each sentence for a complete, correctly linked structure.
