Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that working days should be shorten while rest days should be longer. Although it helps people to rest better. However, I disagree because some jobs require full-time responsibility and it might negatively impact the economy of the country.
Short working week and longer weekend is not applicable to some works because certain jobs require full-time attention. In terms of healthcare, nurses and doctors need to have responsibility with their patients especially for those vulnerable people who need daily checking. For example, in hospitals a lot of old people require daily assistance and medications to maintain or improve their illnesses. Therefore, I believe that promoting short week and longer weekend may affect other people.
In addition, promoting the former notion can possibly affect the economy of the country. That is because certain coutries have only a few large industries that makes up their own economy. Reducing the work days negatively impacts the revenue of each corporations because they need to maintain consistent working effort to gain an income. For example, in New Zealand dairy farmers have a big contribution in improving the economy of the country because many countries buy their products. As a result, I believe that embracing longer weekend can affect the economy of the country.
In conclusion, I disagree with the view because certain professions require full-time responsibility as it may affect other people especially in healthcare. Moreover, promoting it can impact the economy of the country because some countries rely only in few corporations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I disagree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give two relevant reasons: some healthcare roles need ongoing coverage, and reduced working time could affect economic output. The examples about hospital patients and New Zealand dairy exports help connect these points to real situations. This is a solid response to the task, but the support is unevenly developed. The healthcare paragraph explains the need for daily care, yet does not show why a shorter working week would necessarily reduce coverage, since shifts could be reorganised. The economic argument also relies on broad claims about countries and corporations. To strengthen the response, explain the causal links more carefully and acknowledge how employers might adapt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “In addition,” “For example,” and “As a result” make the progression easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence of the introduction, “Although it helps people to rest better. However, I disagree,” is a fragment followed by a contrast marker that does not fit smoothly. In the body paragraphs, “the former notion” and repeated references to “the economy of the country” make cohesion feel repetitive rather than flexible. Use clearer links between claims and evidence, and vary referencing so each paragraph develops naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “full-time attention,” “vulnerable,” “daily assistance,” “revenue,” and “contribution.” These choices communicate your main ideas, and you attempt some more formal expressions. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or repetitive: “short working week,” “promoting the former notion,” and “embracing longer weekend” do not sound natural in context. “Certain jobs” and “affect the economy of the country” are also repeated, limiting precision. There are spelling errors such as “coutries,” and “corporations” is not the most suitable term for the dairy-farming example. Aim for more natural topic-specific phrases and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “especially for those,” and “as a result.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur and reduce accuracy. For example, “working days should be shorten” needs a passive form, while “Short working week and longer weekend is” has problems with articles and subject–verb agreement. In “industries that makes up,” the verb should agree with the plural noun, and “Although it helps people to rest better” is an incomplete sentence. There are also punctuation issues in the introduction. Practise checking verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
