Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that there should be more holidays in a week and workers should have larger weekends. I agree to this view because employees can spend more time with their families and can also put focus on their personal live.

Workers should have a longer weekend because it can have more advantages. Firstly, they can spend quality time with their families if they have more holidays. They can share their problems with each other and together provide the soution for the issue. For exampe, a person who have more free time can take good are of their families as a compared to a person who only have one off in a weak which he often spends in doing household chores.

Another benefit of having more days off in a week is that they can focus more on their personal life like maintaing their health, going for shopping and relaxing themselves by moving into a tourist spot. For example, many employees who work all the week often feel depressed and having more diseases such as obesity. Due to working all the week they do not have enough time to maintain their health or feel relaxed. As a result, young generation often want to pursue a career as entrepenuer instead of working as employee.

In conlcusion, working short days in week can effect office goals and achievement, although the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Working few days in a week can help employees maintain their health and spend quality time with their families.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that workers should have a longer weekend, and you give relevant reasons about family time and personal health. The examples about sharing family problems and having time to exercise or relax help explain these benefits. However, the two main ideas are not developed equally: the family point is explained more fully, while the health paragraph moves quickly from illness to young people preferring entrepreneurship, without showing clearly how that supports a shorter working week. The conclusion also introduces the idea that shorter weeks may affect office goals, but this disadvantage is not discussed in the body. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and keep the conclusion consistent with the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Another benefit,” and “As a result” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is not always smooth: the point about young people becoming entrepreneurs feels disconnected from the preceding discussion of health, and the conclusion introduces an opposing effect on office goals without preparing the reader for it. Some linking is also repetitive, particularly the repeated references to “more holidays” and “more days off.” Make each paragraph follow one clear line of reasoning, and use pronouns or varied transitions where the connection between ideas is explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main points, including “quality time,” “personal life,” “maintain their health,” and “advantages outweigh the disadvantages.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “obesity” and “pursue a career.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions are noticeable, for example “soution,” “exampe,” “personal live,” and “moving into a tourist spot.” Some phrases are also repetitive or awkward, such as “more holidays in a week” and “working all the week.” These choices do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn natural collocations for work schedules, leisure and health.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses (“if they have more holidays”) and a result clause (“As a result…”). Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “a person who have” needs subject–verb agreement, and “a person who only have one off” also has agreement and article problems. In “young generation often want,” the subject and verb do not agree, while “can effect office goals” uses an incorrect grammatical form for the intended meaning. There are also errors in articles and sentence construction, as in “as a compared to.” Review agreement, articles and verb forms, then proofread each sentence while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
