Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, the debate about short working weeks and longer weekends is common. This essay will discuss the both perspectives before exaplaning i belive a balance is necessary depending upon the nature of the profession .however long weekends offer more benefits.
On the one hand, some people believe that long working weeks cause depression and anxiety among the employees. beacuse when individuals work on long working days without taking any gap they tend to be more restless and exusted .For example A company calling its employee 5days a week even after achiveing the desired tasks the employees get annaoyed easily and next time they will not invest their hundred perect potential in work and they feel more tired and depressed.
On the other hand , longer weekends provide sufficient time to rest and enjoy with family and friends. The big enterprising tech companies are now more concerned about their emplyees mental wellbeing by following worklife balance approach.Because of thsi approach they outperfomd their compitetor in marklet.as heir work times are more flexible they also plan the duties so every worker get a weekend to enjoy .In return their employees performance goes up.
In my opinion, there are several professions, for instance, doctors, nurses, other paramedical staff and the Police; they require to come even on the weekends. Because such services demand the presence of these people 24/7. Therefore, offering longer weekends to them can be a challenging task In order to overcome this issue a good plannining is required, so they can work on alternative shifts. ,
In conclusion, longer weekends and shorter workdays have their own chhallenges and benefits. However, by following a good strategy longer weekends can be managed so the employees can gain benefit from it and perform well at work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and give a generally clear view that longer weekends offer benefits, while recognising that arrangements depend on the profession. The discussion of fatigue and the example of companies supporting work–life balance are relevant. However, the opening promises to discuss “both perspectives,” but the essay does not fully examine reasons for keeping the working week as it is; the healthcare and police example mainly explains a scheduling difficulty. Some points also need fuller support: explain more specifically how rest improves performance, and clarify what “a balance” means in practice. Developing these ideas and maintaining a more explicit position throughout would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, a paragraph giving your qualification, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. Overall, the ideas are arranged coherently, but some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, the sentence beginning “Because of this approach” is separated from the preceding point in a way that makes the relationship less smooth, and the shift from the benefits of longer weekends to essential workers’ schedules could be better signposted. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “depression and anxiety,” “mental wellbeing,” “worklife balance,” “flexible,” and “alternative shifts.” These choices help communicate the main ideas. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are noticeable, as in “exusted,” “achiveing,” “outperfomd their compitetor,” and “worklife balance approach.” Some wording is also too general, such as “good strategy” and “perform well at work,” where more precise language would strengthen the argument. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases; for example, describe companies as “outperforming their competitors” and employees as “maintaining a healthy work–life balance.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “when individuals work … they tend to be” and a purpose clause in “so they can work on alternative shifts.” The main message is usually understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors reduce control. For example, “they require to come” needs a different verb pattern, and “every worker get a weekend” has a subject–verb agreement error. Several sentences are joined or punctuated awkwardly, particularly the long example beginning “A company calling its employee…,” while the final paragraph contains a sentence fragment beginning “Because.” Work on complete sentence boundaries, agreement, and verb patterns, while continuing to use varied structures.
