Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that, jobholders should get longer weekend and the office days in a week should be decreased. I firmly disagree with statement because I believe two off days per week is appropiate for workers morale boost, however, if it exceeds two days, it will be a problem for both the companies and the employees.
Usually, weekend consists of two days in every country, approved by every company. A company will face difficulties such as facing workload, missing deadlines, and decreasing production for longer weekends because of closing an extra day, as work will not continue. For example, A company has a deadline of thrity days to manufacture a product. If the weekend is longer, the production will not continue and it will create pressure on the weekdays. If the workers fail to manage the pressure, they will miss the deadline. As a result, the company will face a loss, which is a problem for the company.
In addition, companies provide a decent weekend, which is enough for releasing workers stress and developing their morale for the next week. For example, In the weekend, I visit my friends for gossiping at a suitable place, where we play games, watch movies, eat food and have a party. By doing these, I release my stress, caused by the workload during weekdays and prepare myself for the next week. Moreover, because of two days, I can rest and sleep properly, which decreases my exhaution and keeps my mind fresh. Moreover, If the weekend exceeds two days, it will create laziness, harming people's regular working nature.
In conclusion, having shorter weekdays are not beneficial for the companies because of less working duration, while a longer weekend is not needed by jobholders. Otherwise, it may challenge people's regular working habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with a longer weekend and argue that two days off are sufficient. You support this with relevant points about production deadlines and workers’ rest, and the personal example of spending time with friends helps illustrate how a weekend can relieve stress. This addresses the task, but the case is not equally developed throughout. The claim that longer weekends create “laziness” is asserted rather than explained, and the production example assumes that work simply stops instead of considering how schedules or staffing might be adjusted. To strengthen the response, explain these points more fully and connect each example directly to why a shorter working week would be harmful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The examples generally follow the points they support, so the reader can follow the main argument. However, some linking is mechanical or repetitive: “Moreover” appears twice in close succession, and “For example” introduces examples in both body paragraphs without much variation. The opening sentence also contains a comma that interrupts the connection between its subject and verb. In addition, the conclusion’s “Otherwise” does not clearly express the relationship between the preceding ideas. Use more precise transitions and make references between claims and examples explicit to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “workload,” “deadlines,” “production,” “morale,” and “exhaustion.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “regular working nature,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. For instance, “releasing workers stress” and “for gossiping” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “relieving workers’ stress” and “to socialise” would be clearer. Spelling errors such as “appropiate,” “thrity,” and “exhaution” are noticeable. Aim to use familiar words accurately and check spelling, word forms, and collocations before trying more ambitious phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If the workers fail to manage the pressure, they will miss the deadline” and a relative clause beginning “which is a problem for the company.” These help explain cause and effect, and the overall meaning remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors persist. The opening has an unnecessary comma after “that,” and “having shorter weekdays are not beneficial” has a subject–verb agreement problem. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “In the weekend” and “because of closing an extra day.” Review agreement, article use, and punctuation, and revise complex sentences to ensure their parts connect correctly.
