Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. The description of the process is incomplete, as the text cuts off abruptly mid-sentence while describing the fermentation stage. Furthermore, the summary lacks a clear overview of the main features, focusing instead on a mechanical listing of steps. To improve, you must ensure you describe the entire process from start to finish and provide a clear, concise summary of the key stages in the introduction or overview paragraph. The current length prevents a full development of the information presented in the diagram.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks logical progression and effective paragraphing. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices such as 'To begin' and 'Moreover', the flow is disrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. The transition between sentences is mechanical, and the lack of a concluding summary makes the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear purpose and that ideas are linked smoothly using a variety of cohesive devices. The abrupt ending makes it impossible to evaluate the final coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'process', 'help', and 'things'. There is a lack of technical vocabulary appropriate for describing a scientific or industrial process (e.g., 'fermentation', 'distillation', 'conversion'). Additionally, there are errors in word choice, such as 'the plants and tress are grow' (should be 'grown') and 'microbs' (spelling error). To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more precise, topic-specific vocabulary and ensure correct spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The rendered process chart illustrate' (subject-verb agreement error), 'biofuel which called ethanol' (passive voice error), and 'they to the factory' (missing verb). The sentence structures are simple and lack the complexity required for higher bands. There are also issues with punctuation and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing processes.
