IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The diagram below shows how a biofuel called ethanol is produced.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The diagram illustrates that how ethanol, which is a type of biofuel is produced.
Overall, it is evident that the process consists of several stages beginning with growth of plants and ending with the production of ethanol which is used as a fuel in vehicles.
Initially, plants and tress receive energy from sun and carbon dioxide which helps them to grow. After this, plants are harvested by farmer by using a tractor. The harvested plants fed into a pre-processing machinery and convert trees into small pieces. Theses small pieces are processed to produce cellulose.
Following this, cellulose then fed into processing machinery where it is treated with various chemicals and sugar produced after the whole method. Next, microbes are added into sugars. Finally, ethanol is produced with a help of combination of sugar and added microbes. The ethanol is used in different vehicles for a fuel such as airplanes, cars and trucks. Theses vehicles release carbon dioxide that dissolves in air, allowing process to repeat again.
