Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 2.0

The response fails to address the task prompt. The instructions clearly ask for a summary of a diagram showing the production of ethanol; however, the student has written about dance classes and their locations. This is a complete misinterpretation of the task. While the student does report data points, the content is entirely irrelevant to the provided prompt. Consequently, the response cannot be assessed as a successful completion of the task. To improve, it is essential to carefully analyze the visual information provided in the prompt before beginning to write, ensuring that the summary directly relates to the specific process or data presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'whereas' and 'overall'. However, the logical progression is hindered by the fact that the content does not match the prompt. The referencing is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. While the structure follows a standard report format, the lack of relevance to the actual task makes the coherence ineffective. To improve, ensure that each paragraph serves to develop a clear, relevant point that directly supports the summary of the provided visual data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and form, such as 'choosed' instead of 'chosen' and 'groupe' instead of 'group'. There is a lack of variety in the language used to describe trends or comparisons. The student relies on basic terminology, which restricts the ability to convey information precisely. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to data description, such as 'account for', 'represent', or 'a significant proportion', and pay closer attention to correct verb forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Most of the young student choosed' (subject-verb agreement and incorrect past participle) and 'The students have significant choice of dance classes location' (missing articles and pluralization issues). The sentence structures are generally simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and hyphens. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, consistent verb tense usage, and the correct application of articles in descriptive writing.
