The diagram below shows how a biofuel called ethanol is produced.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The flow chart illustrates the diagrammatic representation of the production of Ethnaol. Moreover, it also gives a visual overview of how Co2 is recycled in atmosphere.
Overall, the process begin with the energy consumption by plants that are later harvested and after series of processing ethanol is produced. Furthermore, the carbon dioxide emitted in atmosphere is recycled by plants.
The process begin with the absorbption of carbon dioxide and and sunlight by the plants.These trees are later harvested. Prior to the formation of cellulose the plants are passed through the pre-processing step and eventually the cellulose is processed.
This processed cellulose produces sugars on which microbes ferment and subsequently ethanol is produced. Furthermore, this ethanol is consumed by various vehicles as a fuel and Co2 is emitted in atmosphere. However, this carbon dioxide emission is recycled as plants thrive on this gas and utilize it as a source of energy for the next cycle.
