The diagram below shows how a biofuel called ethanol is produced.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

This diagram illustrates the process of ethanol production and how it is used as biofuel.

Overall, it is clear that this production process is cyclic starting from plants to ending on carbon dioxide which is again reuse. This cyclic process consists on 8 main stages.

Initially, plants and trees grows from the energy of sun,then they go to harvesting of these plants. The next step is the material after harvesting sent to factory for pre-processing. In this process the cellulose is extracted from the material. In the subsquent stage the cellulose is sent for processing after that sugar is produced from that.

Moreover,micobes are added in this sugar to produce ethanol through chemical process. The produced ethanol is than use in different types of vehicles such as car,trucks and airplans.

When these vehicles run, carbon dioxide is produced which is again reuse in the growth of plants and trees. so, basically carbon dioxide act as renewable source
